Homestuck 2 is nothing more than fanfiction. It only damages the original if you let it. You control your own perception and concept of fictional works. The author may construct a narrative to be delivered but you, the audience, have the privilege of choosing which pieces of it you choose to accept.

every time i read it i tell myself i've made a mistake, gotten nostalgic, and that it was merely good - it couldn't possibly have been *that* good. then i start reading. a little bored (though increasingly appreciative) of the first 100 pages or so, pressing forwards, forwards, slowly realizing with a mixture of delight and horror that i was wrong: it is that good. it was that good, and nothing will ever successfully build on the same framework again. definitely not my fanventure ideas nothing will deliver on the early expectations that homestuck seemed to be building towards. it will always go completely off the rails without a satisfying conclusion, always decline from the peak it had reached.
