This show is what happens when an Adventure Time writer tries to replicate that show's success, but doesn't bother in getting the other writers and directors from AT to help her, opting for a different crew of newbies instead. She also didn't have Fred Seibert and Frederator Studios at her side either.
This show is what happens when an Adventure Time writer tries to replicate that show's success...
And yet, her show is ending on a higher note than AT did
And yet you have a simple yet endearing story with decent lore and minimal missteps in terms of developing characters (i.e. Lapis) even with all the roadblocks (some CN's fault like the hiatuses, format etc.) and some the crew's like the forced POV.
It's probably gonan shock you OP but outside of Yas Forums and some rant videos on YT the show is pretty well liked. Most people don't think it's poorly written, just formatted. I'm inclined to agree with them.
The writing is poor. It can be compelling and charming, but it's not good dialogue.
>Discussing SU when SU ended
Why don't you just discuss SUF?
Speak for yourself. I had a way better time watching later seasons of AT than i did with this show. They're just not on the same league.
Both AT and SU started to get pretty after the first few seasons bad yet SU is still popular, why is that?
People outside of Yas Forums and other cartoon communities don't even watch Steven Universe. At least Adventure Time, Regular Show, and Gravity Falls had adults watching them (like, well adjusted casual adult fans who watched with their children). SU is not the same, its appeal is solely for trannies and other miscreants on tumblr.
Good thing she surpassed AT.
In your head maybe. AT is quality television, despite some missteps. SU is just shallow entertainment.
Because SU requires no skill to understand, so it's easy for normies to see. The show amounts to nothing more than people taking and having moral discussions and emotional breakdowns, whereas AT had a complicated story with plenty of philosical themes and a far more elaborate lore, so people would rather watch SU for being the simple alternative, while shitting on AT for not being accesible enough.
Trans people are the new normal, cope
Checked
I like to think Luz is pregnant here
because the SU fandom didn't get torpedoed by CN scheduling and the SU crew was always more open than AT who wanted the fans to smell whatever artsy shit they made this week
the first season makes all of Adventure Time look like doo-doo
Nah, Season 2 to 5 from AT were better. Besides, whatever talent the SU crew had when they made Season 1 is long gone.
Also the creator of SU worked on the best episodes of adventure time left to work on the show and many people notice the dip of quality.
She wasn't the sole reason for that AT's success, you know ? She didn't even write the stories, only the dialogue. She barely even writes for SU, you know ?
Because it's still SU. Just because it's got a new word on it's title doesn't make it a whole new property. Nothing fundamental has change about the show in the slightest.
What happens when you refer to Young Justice? You think of the franchise. But S1 was just "Young Justice", S2 was "Young Justice Invasion", S3 "Young Justice Outsiders".
Same with Justice League to Justice League Unlimited.
It's the same fucking thing, stop acting like it's different.
So what you're saying is that AT writers and an entire studio held her back.
I mean, ok, sure.
SUF doesn't exist.
>SU is quality television, despite some missteps. AT is just shallow entertainment.
ftfy
>is show is what happens when an Adventure Time writer tries to replicate that show's success, but doesn't bother in getting the other writers and directors from AT to help her
A show with an actual vision?
I don't like SU but it's still vastly better then the mess that was AT.
SU has real animation and characters with human anatomy(ironically) instead of rubber hose retard shit that a five year old could animate and which contributed to destroying hand drawn animation in the west. It wins by default.
Dilate.
No, what i'm saying is that she should've gotten some of the writers and directors from AT to work on SU, instead of hiring a bunch of unexperience people instead. Weirdly enough, she only got some AT's writers towards the very end of Season 5. Tom Herpich and Pen Ward wrote Last Legs to Homeworld and Familiar.
I'm sorry if you don't have the mental energy to appreciate truly complicated lore. You'd rather watch characters talk in the same settings over and over, because it's easier and requires no skill. AT is the better show by far, get over it.
>this thing looks like me
Reminder that the end credits in AT last 25 seconds, whereas the ones in SU only last 11. Kind of shows which one had the most effort and manpower put into it.
dios mio..................
>her show is ending on a higher note than AT did
Tell me you're joking
AT's ending was dogshit, but SU's ending is on the path of being a trainwreck
Oh yeah, end credits. Real important. Totally makes up for AT being a shitshow
You wish. AT finale barely ranks above Star’s ending. At least SUF will end knowing who the protagonist is.
>At least SUF will end knowing who the protagonist is.
Yeah. The biggest faggot in existence.
Some people get their kicks stomping on a dream
>This show is what happens when an Adventure Time writer tries to replicate that show's success, but doesn't bother in getting the other writers and directors from AT to help her, opting for a different crew of newbies instead
Which is why it largely makes sense and doesn’t sputter and veer off into retarded stoner surrealism for its own sake, and repays multiple viewings.
Nah. Straight as a one dollar bill. Doesn’t like it when gays like Kevin hit on him.
Steven is literally half of Kevin's love interest.
Yeah, one that doesn’t like him. Not his fault Kevin can’t resist the universe
AT isn’t complex at all. It’s random. It’s the result of animators making trippy images because they have a simplistic hipster idea of what surrealism is. It has yet enough narrative drive to trick people into thinking it’s meaningful when it’s just an exercise in animators drawing weird stuff because they don’t know how to write.
Kevin and Stevonnie are dating.
Stevonnie just doesn't know it yet.
these threads is what happens when Yas Forums is filled with autistic transfags that likes a show made by lesbians to lesbians
AT had no idea of what it became later on. Sometimes the Bubblegum and Marceline Experience, sometimes a poor attempt at surrealism, occasionally a high schooler’s attempt at grey morality. No cohesion at all.
That just means guys will be forced to date guys.
The credits's length still says something about the effort that was put into each joke
Yet it also explains why the show is an inferior copy. SU tries really hard to be like AT in terms of narrative and worldbuilding, but the execution just isn't as good.
>AT
>Quality
Nice bait thread user
Yet that's what makes it so good. It's unpredictable and experimental, whereas SU becomes stale and repetitive because of how focused it in its story. Nevermind that AT has a far more interesting lore and setting.
Not really. You can have an hour’s worth of credits. Wouldn’t make Amy Schumer any funnier
AT still had more quality than SU tho. Even SU at its peak is not as good as AT at its peak.
>Because SU requires no skill to understand
A-are you implying that AT took fucking SKILL to understand?! Jesus christ how far up your own ass do you have to be / actually retarded to think that.
Mispelled show for joke. My bad
I imagine a kid would've a harder time understanding the lore of AT than SU tho. At the end of the day, they're the main target demographic
No, incoherency doesn’t make a good story. In fact, it weakens it, a good story knows what it is and what it’s be about, experimentation is good but AT’s attempts never lead anywhere, Finn’s cosmic shit did nothing in the finale and his role was quite minuscule compared to the threat they faced,
AT's story still has more merit than SU's story. It just pushed more boundaries with its content, which is why i respect it more. also, AT's destination wasn't the greatest, but the journey to get there is really fun to watch, which cannot be said about the SU's journey from Gem Glow to CYM and the future series imo
Well i cant deny that. Adventure time really did push the boundaries of what people will watch
I never cared about Steven Universe so I’m glad that it’s ending. Hopefully with SU ending this month we’ll see less of SUtrannies dickriding their mediocre show.
Pathetic and cringy
That ep still has more creativity and imagination than the entirety of SU, as sad as that sounds. AT wasn't afraid to have some experimental eps like that either, whereas the only time SU did something like that was Garnet's Universe, which was rather weak even compared to this.
SU is the Hero’s Journey, I wouldn’t even know what to call AT, being abstract by itself doesn’t make you great, being abstract and great makes you great. AT’s writers were showing off squiggles at an art gallery with no actual meaning, a joke of an attempt of abstract art. A simple story beats a complex one by simply being better. You can respect experimentation but it will never make up for being a poor story
fpwp
Star Wars OT is the hero's journey, or at least a well executed one. SU is more like an attempt to do a hero's journey, except that it misses a lot of fundemental elements.
Seething aside, what will SU even be remembered for? Adventure Time, Regular Show, and Gravity Falls are all zoomer nostalgia fuel because they actually appealed to kids along with adults. Do kids actually watch steven universe? Is this just going to be a Homestuck situation where the show falls off the face of the earth after dying? What's its legacy (other than trannies)?
It's not even meme-able enough to survive in memes. Fucking fanboy and chum chum offers more meme potential
Kind of. A lot of teens in the 13/16 age range are in the fandom.
>Seething aside, what will SU even be remembered for?
It's the show with all the lesbians in it.
It's the show that made the MLP and Sonic fanbases look good by comparasion
