I personally love it. I have a better relationship with puppets and dolls rather than actual people.
I think it has charm
It's storytelling nonetheless, but does it ever break your suspense of belief?
Nobody cared on the Yas Forums board, but the guy in the hippo suit claimed he was harassed multiple times in between takes. Filthy perverts.
I don't feel this way about animation or comics, but when it comes to puppets I absolutely believe that they should exclusively be geared towards children. It's not interesting or cool looking, it's fucking odd and, if anything, limits storytelling capabilities.
This show was ahead of it's time.
Spicy take. Did you know that Jim Henson always considered The Muppets as adult entertainment? He only did Sesame Street because the government commissioned it, and he hated doing it at first.
Honestly how is puppet based porn (which is to say a man or a woman fucking a voiced and puppeteered puppet) not a thing?
didn't an adult puppet movie come out recently?
I remember seeing commercials for it and thats it
>when sara was still hot
A better time
to much work
imo still one of the best executed adult puppet shows.

There's your problem. You could go on there, post a random screenshot from the movie, say it was an actual kiddie show, and 90% of them would believe it.
If by recently you mean almost two years ago, then yes. It came and went without much fanfare.
Sauce? I hope they don't do a live action Fantasia.
(it's actually for a general audience tho)
What are some edgy puppet shows or movies you'd recommend? I need something nihilistic with a wicked sense of humor.
thunderbolt fantasy
Wonder Showzen
In recent years I've come to fear anything marketed to 'adults', doubly so when it's something that's been traditionally aimed at children.
Most of these products end up being over the top, needlessly edgy and oversexualized.
>Sausage Party
>Castlevania
>Big Mouth
It's like they hear 'adult' and throw out good taste, focusing on breaking taboos instead of making something good.
Dark Crystal AoR and Henson products are actually a good example of making something so quality it can be enjoyed by all ages.
Excuse me, but could you two nice ladies of the evening help me out? I'm looking for some "Rotten Cotton". I have a big old sack of sugar that I'm more than willing to split between the two of you!
As you can tell, I am a fan of this particular piece of cinema.
When are we gonna see the Avenue Q movie?
Topical satire shows such as Spitting Image were popular, there was also a French equivalent. But doubtful they could survive in today's climate. Examples: and webm related is latter with no audio, refers to South Africa's Apartheid era
I love the better examples, but as pointed out most "adult"-oriented series throw out all sense of quality to focus on raunchiness.
i'm sick of all these fuckers thinking adult means comedy
i want a saucy puppet show
Like ventriloquists? You might enjoy Veronica Chaos
that shit 2 steps away from being a fursuit
Harassed how? Like, by gay dudes trying to feel him up, or the way I would still try to smash Clarabelle Cow at Disney World, not giving a fuck what was in the costume?
is that the warden of shawshank?
Mongrels is the best show of the 'edgy puppet shows' type. No contest.
The original Spitting Image creators are doing another series that's coming out later this year on BBC/ITV's Netflix imitator I'm not sure how it'll do in today's political climate. See pic related.
>There will never be a serious and thoughtful supermarionation tv show
Horse Apples!
In Ireland we had these two characters called Podge and Rodge, they were intially children's Puppet Characters but they gradually got more rauncy that they became full blown adult Puppet Characters.
they have a very unique dark feel to them.
Neat.
mongrels was pretty okay
By ok, he means "great" .
Good stuff.
Source?
How many shows like this even exist I only know about Mongrels and Fur Tv
Puppets Who Kill.
Pets is kino
There's Let My Puppets Come from 1976
(It's not very good)
Thoughts on Dinosaurs?
A fuckpuppet would be cheaper than a realdoll
Don't even bring it up.
Yes I did know that, and while I respect Henson, I disagree with his opinion.
I think "Adult entertainment" meant something different in the 60's. Muppets was prime time entertainment and they didn't start considering kids as a viable market until like the 80's.
I try not to praise stuff too much here, that's how you draw the contrarians
Meet the feebles is kino and more movies should be made like that in todays world
Worst movie of the decade.
I can't believe it always takes us so long to bring up the best example of this

NEW THING BAD
OLD THING GOOD
I did not care f or Avenue Q, even when Gary Coleman was still in it. It's overrated.
Love it! It's always going to be a niche thing but it can be pretty entertaining.
I watched an episode and then tried to explain what the hell the story was about.
Wasted potential sure, but it's not the worst. I like the ideas presented by this guy better than what we got.

Is that puppet to the left of the human from the Nintendo E3 Puppet show? The one who was the camera guy?
Yes. These are the miscreants puppets you may or may not recognize from various children's entertainment.
