Superman #21 Storytime
bendis still bad
Ah, the issue where Bendis tries to pull a Tom King with Superman, because apparently Bendis being Bendis wasn't bad enough.
Ok, this is fucking awesome. It's about damn time Mongul and Superman had a fight that spanned a solar system.
The fuck is Mongul's endgame here?
Well he was trying to break apart the United Planets, which he pretty much succeeded at. While Superman was distracted, he hopped him happy ass back into Warworld a flew that sucker straight to Earth. My guess is, he is gonna do what he said he was gonna do in issue 19.
water still wet
Hey readers I made the UP totally Jon’s idea! Remember that? That totally makes up for screwing up his character beyond repair! Right?
>all those Yas Forums threads full of anons whining for Mongul to be relevant again
Well congratulations, you got your wish granted I guess.
By Bendis.
what a boring issue
>Superman panics as he rushes down to earth to stop Monguls mayhem
>Surprised to still see everything intact
>Finds Mongul ontop the DailyPlanet, taking a massive shit
I'd pay money to see that.
Not as boring as issue 16, what a snorefest
No. And it can be repaired. I want Jon de-aged and reset so he hasn't spent his formative years being tortured. That's the only way. Nothing else will suffice.
Whatever happened to Rogol Zaar?
Well I guess if Conner could bounce back from the new 52, then Jon can bounce back from this.
Gonna take heavy retcons though.
Nothing wrong with being a Mongul fan. Though we'll see how long this last. I give it a few more months before somebody fucks it all up again.
he died returning to his home planet
Send somebody back in time to Earth 3 and rescue Jon very early in his captivity and return him to his propper place. Or from going through the wormhole there to begin with. It's not difficult.
I can’t tell if you’re meming
just erase bendis from the timeline
No really Zod backstabbed him and Supergirl punted him into another dimension in-I think issue 14.
And we haven't heard from him since.
At all.
Because even the plot itself appears to want to ignore Rogal Zaar.
Mongul and him are gonna team up, make my words.
Earth-15 commie mongul was better than this tripe. Fuck Bendis.
That Mongul barely did anything in the story and died. Fuck are you talkin' about?
What made it boring for you? Genuinely curious. I personally really like the art and I thought the action was pretty dope.
>fight
>the action was pretty dope
Montages without choreography of action figures posing while not actually hurting each other does not make "a fight"
Western readers are battered wives
Gb2 Yas Forums
Reis is a great artist, but the issue is in itself boring. The villain decides he won and leave with no trouble, the alien armies are fighting among themselves even tho they were united against a common foe for no reason and I cant just give a damn about Lois' problem, because it's an artificial one.
Sometimes good art can save a boring story, but not always
Who here also actually enjoys this run?
>The villain decides he won and leave with no trouble
I do agree that that is kinda lame. He had Superman on the ropes. He really should just kept pounding away at him like in issue 19.
For me I feel like this storyline would have benefited from being it's own arc, apart from Truth. An arc dedicated to the United planets entirely, that would focus on the struggles of bringing them together. Show them constantly at odds and ready to throw down at a moment's notice. Then after Superman finally gets things to settle down, that when Mongul could show up an reek havoc.
I think it's ok. Nothing special. It's serviceable. Has its decent ups and low downs.
Bitter Bitches will be bitter bitches. See yall next month.
....wait, no.. see yall in the Legion thread lol.
This must be New Mongul.
You can see Bendis sent a fucked up script or story board to the artist because the is no sense of continuity between the panels, they just move from place to place without any kinetic suggestion.
Absolute garbage.
Finally, I was getting tired of reading that Morrison overhyped garbage waiting on the new Supes storytime. Thanks OP!
His story is currently over. He got his revenge on the person that destroyed his home planet and is now put on the shelf.
...Well after he got his shit pushed in by the Super family + Zod. He was then taken prisoner by the Thanagarians and put in a time stop bubble.
I don't really see what you are talking about.
I mean then again, I'm no comic layout enthusiast, so maybe you see things I don't, but I feel the panels are fine. I was able to follow what was happening easily enough.
>Supergirl punted him into another dimension in-I think issue 14.
That's almost exactly how he was stopped when he was banished to the Phantom Zone. Once again by Supergirl in Superman's own fucking book. Bendis has no respect.
Oh, it's the one with L.E.G.I.O.N. members on the cover. Bet this will go well.
What was that? Random heat vision into space?
Oh wait, it's nothing.
What the fuck is up with that. They're like the only non-generic characters who've been appearing in the background of this series, even though they shouldn't even be there in the first place. What is he going to do to them?
I wish Disney would buy DC comics and fire everyone already.
Would be better off.
I enjoy it. But yeah, unpopular opinion.
