There doesn't seem to be a single place where Lucy could plausibly be realizing she was wrong to expect no one to care about. Even when Sue hugs her she seems to be specifically shown to have no emotional reaction.

Maybe five months spent on light material doesn't give anyone much to talk about. The most exciting thing in the last half a year has been Paulo getting a scene that doesn't shit on him and even that was about something that will probably never actually be shown in the comic.

The problem with this plotline is that it was never true that nobody cared about her, it was just Mike trying to make her understand how he felt. This is obvious if you take into account earlier chapters, with everyone bending over backward to try and help her through the Mike conflict, but even if you have a short attention span, it's spelled out in Rachel's party chapter. So there's no tension because we, the audience, know that everyone will always like Lucy no matter what, and everyone will always put Mike second. So the only tension this plotline can have is whether that girl everyone loves will realise everyone loves her, which is going full 'her flaw is that she's too beautiful' mary sue territory. I feel like Taeshi partially forgot this subtext, which is why Mike's chapters lately have this overtone of 'haha, that thing he said was wrong! everyone is choosing Lucy over him, which is contrary to his expectations!'

It would have been better if during the time Lucy was away Mike became slightly manipulative and got everyone to like him more while Lucy wasn't around to defend her character, but instead we got meandering Daisy-Abbey-Polo drama.

His character analysis was basically right, albeit very uncharitable, but he's obviously just bluffing when he says that Paulo will leave her, and he only said it because he'd gone too far by that point to back down.

Continuing to play the tsundere thing straight for the Mexico chapters only to finally reveal that as a weeping Lucy cuddled into him Mike was ANGRY was the one of the best pieces of writing in the series. Obviously something that had been planned ahead and the build up to it was clever; exactly like a climax to a normal tsundere story.
