>Luke Evans and Josh Gad are set to reprise their roles from 2017’s “Beauty and the Beast” for a prequel series at Disney Plus, Variety has confirmed.
>Evans will star as Gaston with Gad returning as LeFou. The untitled project, which is currently in early development, would be a musical like the film with Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz set to co-write and serve as showrunners. Gad would also serve as co-writer on the project, with he, Horowitz, and Kitsis also executive producing. ABC Signature Studios, where Horowitz and Kitsis are under an overall deal, would produce.
Who asked for this? Is Disney+ just throwing shit at the wall to see what stocks at this point?
I mean what else is there for them to do? Until WW3 or Corona kills us, Disney controls.
Samuel Brown
What's old is new. We went from incredible movies to weird spinoffs to lesser remakes of incredible movies to even lesser spinoffs of said remakes. This is peak creative bankruptcy, and they're hoping that people actually care enough for the Beauty and the Beast remake three years later after the mishandling of various franchises soured their image.
Aiden Martinez
And yet no one has thought to try and do a Live Action Kingdom Hearts. What's even the point of trying to make Live Action Disney adaptations if not for that exact purpose?
Grayson Cook
Let me guess LGBTQ+ will be all over for brownie points.
Carson Peterson
Who is asking for this? Who even wants this?
please god no
Samuel Garcia
Probably not. Disney tossed the Love Simon show from Plus to Hulu.
Isaac Martinez
>Is Disney+ just throwing shit at the wall to see what stocks at this point? Isn't that how TV and streaming services work?
Dylan Gomez
>Who is asking for this? Who even wants this? Middle aged middle class normie women, aka the Disney+ audience.
Nathan Price
>What's even the point of trying to make Live Action Disney adaptations if not for that exact purpose? China.
Ryan Jackson
A Gaston show, though?
Nicholas Howard
Are you implying the ladies don't like Gaston?
Connor Taylor
Like it happened with the character of LeFou in the live action movie, they just want to show off him, a "gay" character again. The series is just to show everyone that they care a lot about selling something to the LGBT community.
Guarantee any LGBT presence in this will be Onward tier.
Joshua Garcia
So is straight to Disney plus the new direct to dvd?
Jordan Green
Gaston is Bi as fuck and the FLAMING gay dude that was his bro is his butt buddy.
This is because of them not wanting that gaslighting attempt teen gay show on disney+.
Nathan Rodriguez
>they give gaston his own series >it's a live action prequel for FUCKS sake
Parker Jenkins
They also have an Aladdin spin-off in the works about Jasmine's suitor.
Jack James
> Horowitz and Kitsis are no strangers to the Disney-verse themselves. The pair previously created and ran the popular ABC series “Once Upon a Time,” God please no. I can't do OUAT again
So with Loki that's at least 3 shows about the handsome bad boy rival to the good guy from a popular Disney franchise? I can already hear the middle aged autistic Disney fans schlicking.
Connor Miller
Yep. There was a bunch of controversy because the announcement was made around the time Aladdin's actor gave an interview talking about how he hasn't been able to get a single audition.
Jackson Miller
Is there any actual original show on Disney+? Not a sequel, prequel, spin-off, remake and what have you?
James Jones
>Who asked for this? Is Disney+ just throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks at this point?
Yes!
But not a Gargoyles continuation, because God hates Yas Forums
John Cook
why the fuck are tey making a sequel to the beauty and the beast? wha t story is there to tell? are we going to see young beast seaxually abusing the maids then throwing them out of the castle when they become pregnant? are we going to see bells sick elderly mother go through the brutal medicinal practices of old begging god for mercy and death?
Nicholas Martin
They'll say Le Fou will be gay again even though he won't actually do anything gay
Justin Jackson
I don't think so. Pretty sure Disney is planning to coast on nostalgia alone.
Brody Hughes
This prequel show is actually about how LeFou met Gaston, joins him in his travels and eventually falls in love with him but has to come to terms with the fact that it's simply not meant to be and he has to accept his friendship as is.
Justin Campbell
Quick google shows a couple, none of which have gotten any talk on this board specifically because they're not adaptations or spinoffs of Yas Forums-related material (or animated). > Encore > The World According to Jeff Goldblum > The Imagineering Story > Pick of the Litter > Disney Family Sundays > Diary of a Future President > Shop Class > Fairy Tale Weddings
Brody Kelly
To be fair, Gaston and LeFou were the best part of the 2017's version... yeah, it doesn't much, but still
Caleb Foster
Gaston's role in the story is totally defined by the fact that he is a hunter of beasts and a rival for Belle's affection who will go to extreme lengths to make her his wife; he is tailor-made for that story and that story alone. This is the height of creative bankruptcy. I struggle to imagine under what conditions someone would actually willingly sit down to watch an episode about how Gaston killed the third mounted deer head from the left on his wall.
Cooper Ortiz
I'd watch a show of Gaston being an asshole. I'd prefer the animated version but eh.
Christopher Adams
Nope. Gaston is full bi and lefou is full fag They fuckin There The fag agenda will now get off of their back about the child aimed gay brainwashing thing that would have decimated their subscriber numbers instantly.
Chase Cox
>complaining when gay character does gay stuff >complaining when gay character doesn't do gay stuff why
Asher Green
Why the hell would Gaston settle for LeFou? He could get a way hotter gay guy.
Daniel Perez
I rather enjoyed Luke Evan's as Gaston so I'm not complaining.
Liam Wilson
Corona is nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be
Adrian Davis
He's not even the size of a barge.
Jackson Roberts
Does it take place after the film?
Daniel King
Does Gaston still die on the live action? Seems weird to give him a show if they still portrayed him as an irredeemable villain
Gavin Gutierrez
i'm guessing options are fairly limited in 18th century france
Logan Rogers
>brownie points There's no way to not be cynical about this, is there? I don't understand how such a vague and unfalsifiable gripe can be so prominent beyond people just looking for something to be shitty about. It's like any other change can be chalked up to the marketing trying to be fresh, fun, and hip, but make it gay shit and all that cynicism becomes laser focused on a specific motive.
Tyler Thomas
NOPE I suck dick but I could never suck as much as this series will.
Justin Clark
>prequel series >does it take place after the film ???
Elijah Roberts
user, there is not a single solitary human being on earth who wants a fucking live action gaston show. A fucking prequel no less.
The only ONLY reason this shit is even a thing and getting green lit is because of the faggotry of lefou and hinted faggotry of gaston. THATS IT
It's to cover their ass with the fag agenda after they drop kicked the gay highschool boy thing.
This is even less marketable then the diary of a wimpy kid thing starring a border jumping mexican girl. Not an actual american born latina who's been here for generations and is part of the murrican fuck yeah tapestry, a border jumper.
Nathan Ross
Do you think there was wide demand for a show about that dude from Aladdin who's basically Gaston except even thinner as a character? It's the same shit you paranoid mong.
Cameron Williams
Gaston? Getting a show because faggotry Aladin nobody? Getting a show for the same reason they hard pushed the terminally unmarketable failed attempt to pull in a nonexistant group of middle eastern girls to disney. Ms.Marvel.
I can go on. Why does accepting the truth upset you so much?
Jaxson Martinez
A cartoon Gaston could be a great comedy. Think of it more like the bad guy from Wacky Races. Gastan trying to do something with his buffoonery and bravado only to lose at the end.
Adam Phillips
Nah, twinks in powdered wigs were probably lining up for that dick.
Hudson Gutierrez
So wait you think only middle easterners watched the Aladdin movie? I am interested in you continuing and finding out how deep the insanity goes indeed.
They cancelled this. Now it will be sequels, but not sequels that are adaptations of the animated sequels.
Lucas Hernandez
The live action movie implied that Gaston got up to some... really fucked up shit during the war. I'm going to guess the prequel won't touch that. If they can't have Lizzie Maguire be a 30-something year old dealing with life like an adult, you can't have Gaston enjoying the wails of widows and screams of dying men.
Alexander Reed
>Who asked for this? Is Disney+ just throwing shit at the wall to see what stocks at this point?
This was the case since the announcement of Disney+, it's an unmitigated disaster
Robert Gomez
I mean those two were the best part of the movie
Samuel Perry
Sauce? I knew that sequels were in the works but hadn't heard anything about the spin-off being cancelled. Smart move by Disney if it is.
Noah Moore
They are doing this because Gaston is one of the most popular Disney villains of the last couple of decades. To the extent that the bad guy from Frozen (Hans) was created explicitly as a homage to Gaston.
Plus they probably figure they can get LGBT+ brownie points explicitly making Gaston gay friendly, to counterbalance him being such a Chad along with retconning him a cautionary tale of sorts by claiming that his toxic masculinity was forced upon him by society and that he was in love with Belle because she reminded him of his feminist mother.
Ethan Bell
It is incurable right now, and effect the elderly and people with compromised(me) vulnerable(infants) immune systems. So yes, yes it is. So fuck off nigger.
Julian Turner
>infants Pretty sure there hasn't been a single reported infant dying from it.
Benjamin Sanders
Because the type of person who would literally eat actual shit if it came in the right box will eat this up too. Stop questioning whether brainless materialists exist- they do.
