New Shelf Thread: Epic Edition!!!!!

New Shelf Thread

Got all five of the Silver Surfer Epics coming in the mail in the next day or so. Will probably have to take a break from buying any new trades for a bit as I'm a bit tapped for cash after splurging due to me finding a guy on Ebay who was selling Epic trades in 2-3 volume lots for about half the retail price of them.

Anyone getting the Nancy Collins Swamp Thing omnibus? Is the run any good?

Just ordered these and now I'm broke.

Attached: Untitled.png (878x452, 78.37K)

It's good though it has a rough start at the beginning and the ending is a huge downer one that was editorially forced upon her.

Is Ebay really a good place to buy trades? Never really bought stuff there.

Ebay's a great place for buying stuff but you have to be willing to hunt sometimes in terms of the best deal. At the very least, you can sometimes find older Marvel omnibuses for $20-40 and older trades dirt cheap, compared to Amazon prices

ebay is great for trades

I've only had one bad experience with ebay and even then it wasn't that bad. In general I'd recommend being wary of anything that doesn't have pictures of the actual book so you can verify the condition.

Been trying to cut back since I've been building up more of a backlog than I'm reading. Space is getting to be more and more of a concern.

I finally got my hands on Iron Man 149, and after a moment of thinking realized I never actually checked my LCS's backstock for it and 150. Turns out they've been there the whole time. 150 looks a bit shitty, but it'll do for a first read.
I've had my eye on A. Bizzaro for a long time. Gerber's my favorite writer and his Superman Elseworlds was great.
On Monday I listened to a Morrison interview where he talked a bit about how Luther Arkwright influenced him and I moved it near the top of my list. Then it turned up at my shop on Wednesday. Shit like this makes me think Grant is onto something about the magic.
The Miller Daredevil omni is on my list, but the Born Again scratches my itch for old trades. Child's Play I thought was an OGN or collection from Marvel Comics Presents before reading the forward. I can always pass them on to someone else when I upgrade to the omni.

Not pictured is the first five issues of Miller's Ronin. I thought it was the whole series when I grabbed them. Since I'm missing the last one I might trade them in for a collected edition.

I don't have pics yet of my recent purchases but I bought a few things off Ebay that should be getting here soon
>Flash #3 (2016/Rebirth), first appearance of Avery Ho and Godspeed (got it for Avery)
>Sensation She Hulk #34, the controversial Vanity Fair inspired cover
>Zatanna issues 1-7, 9, and 10. I have the first few issues already, needed the rest to complete the run. Giving them to my friend

Haven't posted muh shelf in a while

Waiting on the Wolverine omni reprint which drops in a couple weeks.
There’s a few things coming out in the near future that I want, but not until May.

Been waiting for this thread since the last one died.

Does the third SS Epic containsthe time he went as The Carnage Cosmic?
Has the Steve Oliff colourized version of Akira ever been collected in America or Europe?

Attached: akira-feat.jpg (1080x720, 273.71K)

Goddammit DC, stop planning 1500 page omnis that you'll cancel because no one wants to spend that much on something that will tear itself apart before you can finish reading it.

Super fucking disappointed they didn't stick Secret Origin #13 in V4 (it takes place during the trip to Tamara that runs in #13-18). Also, no Teen Titans Spotlight, especially since those issues explains away a lot of stuff going on during #18-38 (mainly, what Cyborg, Jericho, and Beast Boy were doing when Donna had to get the OG Titans together, explains how Aqualad escaped Mento and the Hybrid, and further fleshes out the fall-out from when Starfire is manipulated into thinking she had killed a man by the Wildebeasts).

No, the American colorized Akira still is not available in TPB. And back issue prices keep climbing and climbing for the last eight issues, with the final issue (#38) going for nearly a thousand bucks these days.

>Has the Steve Oliff colourized version of Akira ever been collected in America or Europe?
Epic Comics was literally revived just long enough to finish printing the series, then it all folded. Print run was low too, so you're out of luck.

Waiting on an IST order. Got the first Venomibus, I know it's trash, but it's the trash I grew up with so I'm excited to read Eddie being an edgy dork all over again.

Cosmic Carnage isn't in Inner Demons. No clue if it will be included in the SS Epic line, especially since they also need to include Galactus #1-6 as that mini was supposed to be Silver Surfer #145-150 but got turned into a mini-series when Silver Surfer got canceled.

Cosmic Carnage has been reprinted though in "Many Hosts of Carnage" though.

>you saved $111
my LCS just put 2000 trades/graphic novels out for $5 each. I didn't have much cash this weekend so I could only grab this, next weekend am I going to grab a shitload though. Even have a bunch of Humanoid HCs that are over $50 each for this deal.

Attached: 1561467761727.jpg (2556x3919, 1.21M)

>Underworld Unleashed: The 25th Anniversary Edition
I feel responsible for this having just shitposted about an Underworld Unleashed omni existing with my LCS guy this week. I'm so sorry Yas Forums.

Any turtles fans?

My local comic shop stopped doing that because too many people would buy the $5 trades and not new releases. I know one whale at the shop I go to, would get yelled at by the shop owner due to him letting $200-300 bucks worth of new issues build up in his pull file while spending $100-200 a week on $5 trades or half-off HCs the shop acquired via such diamond sell-off drives. The only reason the whale didn't get his pull file privilege voided for that, was that he was a guy who had been shopping there since the shop opened in the early 90s.

It's not that surprising considering they've done Zero Hour and are planning a War of the Gods one.
This one is smaller than those though, being a paperback.

Attached: C1A87E9D-5CC1-4D23-A4AA-1E8861AC3CBC.jpg (3264x2448, 2.15M)

On a side note, anyone going to NOT order this in order to wait for the inevitable omnibus ala how Zero Hour's HC debut became moot once it was leaked they were doing a omnibus with ALL of the tie-ins included?

eh, you can get burned, especially with shipping. Just be careful. It is pretty decent for rare finds though.
>>Sandman: The Books of Magic Omnibus Vol. 1
oh shit! I can't believe they made an Omni for it! Great news! Though...why only go to 32 and put a bunch of other stuff in it? I guess Vol 2 will collect the rest. Still seems kinda weird but this is something I'm hyped about

But the whole point is to sell comics at a comic shop and that seems to be what is going on. What’s the problem?

Is the Nancy A. Collins Swamp Thing omni still happennig or it is still cancelled?

Attached: Nancy A. Collins Swamp Thing.jpg (1400x2153, 650.16K)

Does anyone have the New Teen Titans V4 omnibus? And if so, does it include the story pages from Crisis On Infinite Earths #12 showing Kole's death? Or does it leave things such that Kole literally vanishes from the book with no mention of what happened to her?

I'd wanna buy those just for the art. Never knew how dank the art was in those comics until I saw a Cartoonist Kayfabe video about one issue in particular.

well that's kinda douchy of him to not pick up his file. I don't buy many floppies anyway so no problem for me. Last time they had a blow out like this it was about 3 years ago and I doubled my collection from that sale, though I ended up with some shit that I did get rid of. Going to do that again, but now I'm much more knowledgeable about what I want so I'll end up with more of what I want and less filler.

>Tales of the Teen Titans #91, Secret Origins #13, Secret Origins Annual #3, and Infinity, Inc. #45.

What's these issues got to do with Titans?

That's been produced. Nancy posted pics of it
>oh shit! I can't believe they made an Omni for it! Great news! Though...why only go to 32 and put a bunch of other stuff in it? I guess Vol 2 will collect the rest. Still seems kinda weird but this is something I'm hyped about
I'd have to recheck, but I think #32 ended a long plotline, so it seems like a good place to stop. Arcana was Tim's re-introduction and the pilot to the ongoing series, Gallery is just a pinup page I think, Preview is a couple pages. Mister E and the Doctor Occult one-shot are only connected to the BoM miniseries, but haven't been collected before.

Attached: Swamp Thing by Collins.jpg (2064x1548, 532.21K)

Highly recommend at least the first one! Eastman and Laird at their finest. Also they are a good size for viewing the art with commentary from the creators

Are those the black & white versions?

Tales of Teen Titans #91 was the last issue issue of Titans ever published that sold on the newstand. DC bumped the issue with a couple of extra pages, which featured a recap of NTT V2 #32-46 designed to get newstand readers caught up so they could move on to reading the comic shop only Titans book now that the book wasn't going to be published on newstands.

Secret Origins #13 is Nightwing's origin (told by Dick to Jericho while they went to Tamara and was written to coincide with the newstand reprint of the Tamara arc in Tales as a sop to fans who were upset that the newstand readers were a year behind story-wise).

Secret Origins Annual #3 has Perez and Wolfman reunite to tell the post-crisis origin of the Titans.

And Infinite Inc #45 is part two of a two part X-Over between the Titans and Infinity Inc now that Infinity Inc shared the same earth as the Titans and has them fighting Ultra Humanite/Raven and Obsidian flirting up a storm

Yes they are black and white. The Works are the color ones I think. I’ve only seen the black and white but I highly recommend them that way

Speaking of Nancy Collins, I just happened to pick up her prose novel on Vampirella. I'm looking forward to reading it. I also have the 50th anniversary poster artbook coming in the mail, and I'm planning to get one of them custom framed.

Attached: 2020-03-07 17_opt.jpg (940x705, 226.86K)

The thing is, the guy eventually does pick up his stuff though and as mentioned beforehand, is one of the shop's oldest customers.

I don't see the problem if he picks up the floppies and THEN spends extra money on trades every week.

>Dawn
just realized how crazy obsessed Lisner became with that character, he must have a thousand pinup pictures of her.

Attached: 1568059602264.jpg (484x760, 88.8K)

Yeah that’s like preordering something you know you will buy but holding off on picking it up because better sales are happening. Those sales won’t be there 3 weeks from now which is a good time to finally pick up your pull list

>only volumes 2 and 3 are on IST
Dammit.

I think they ultimately went through with it because A. Nancy Collins' run is a pretty good, self contained run that has evergreen potential. Especially for normies. B. Bronze Age Swamp Thing Omnibus sold well enough that they committed to putting it out in Softcover. C. The Absolute Swamp Thing By Alan Moore HC sold out as well, to such a degree they are rushing out a second run of it.

The real question/worry would be the Veitch/Wheeler run. Veitch will throw a public temper tantrum if it doesn't include his version of #88 and no one really wants the Wheeler run period. And collecting it together isn't possible because it's nearly 50 issues with the annuals and Hellblazer crossover issues but you can't really collect the runs seperately because Wheelers' first 4-5 issues are dedicated to wrapping up Veitch's time travel/pregnancy arc.

I just want Saga of the Swamp Thing to get the Hellblazer treatment. All 171 issues collected in a series of thick TPBs in proper order, all writers treated equally.

Second

... Im pretty sure you bought those from me user

I wish theyd hurry up and print the second half of englehart's run already

all I know is there is stuff that I have wanted for a while there and I will be saving big on it. Friday can't come soon enough

Is the Wheeler ST run really that bad?

Hell yes! Support your LCS

February's books

Attached: IMG_20200304_175813.jpg (3968x2563, 3.78M)

I'm just curious how they intend to split up about 25 issues among two epics given how they cut up the Starlin run like they did.

>Veitch/Wheeler Run
If only they could include the lost issue where Swampy meets Jesus, Hellblazer had the Archangel Gabriel raping and impregnating the Virgin Mary to conceive Jesus, for God's sake.

Attached: swampy 88.jpg (918x640, 306.28K)

>Meltdown
hell yeah!

I'm being serious when I say that I'm not sure if it actually makes any sense in the end. I think he forgot about some plot developments while writing it. That, and some of the art got incomprehensible near the end.
It does feature the first version of the Grey/Rot though, so that could be interesting (even though it's different from the New 52 stuff)

>$200-300 bucks worth of new issues build up in his pull file
How long did it take for it to build up to that point? My store has about a dozen people who get their pull once a month and it usually comes out to $400. About as many people come every two weeks to a $150-$200 pull. One guy drops $400 every week.

Pics pretty out of date at this point. Out of wall space for more shelves but Id still happily take recommendations

Attached: IMG_20191228_144528.jpg (2683x3685, 3.57M)

>One guy drops $400 every week.
fucking speculators

>Hellblazer had the Archangel Gabriel raping and impregnating the Virgin Mary to conceive Jesus, for God's sake.
That was like four years after Swampy, and not in a year that had a big Batman movie releasing.

how that Kabuki is fixed you should pick that up
