The only thing enjoyable about both of these works has always been the art and paneling. Outside of that, both stories miss the point and concept of both Batman & Superman.

No, they're fan comics. And I think the general consensus from what I could see was people didn't like the characterization but did like the art.
The artist went on to work on stuff at Boom Studios like Powere Rangers and the Big Trouble in Little China/Escape From New York crossover. I haven't heard much from the writer, though.
No awards, but looking through some more it did get heaps of praise from some people in the comic book media.
