You think Yo Yogi was good?

There were a lot of bad cartoons, they were just forgotten.

Loli Cindy was good.

Yo Yogi is harmless compared to stuff like Johnny Test and Coconut Fred.

>Coconut Fred
>A cartoon so worthless that they split the only season into 2 parts

Most cartoons were bad, you're wearing nostalgia goggles for the handful that you watched and have forgotten the majority of the others.

There were crappy cartoons in the 90's but nobody remembers them.

They are forgotten because they weren't bad, just mediocre at best.

There was a lot more competition for airtime, especially on networks since you had an incredibly limited amount of time for kids tv. So networks would pass on anything that was kind of shit and only greenlight stuff that was worth the 4 hours on a saturday or 2.5 hours on a weekday afternoon. Plus this was the height of Disney and Warner competing to have the highest ratings on the afternoon so neither half assed it. WB and Fox split made that a 3 way competition after 95.

Nickelodeon was trying to establish themselves as a major player in kids tv so they would not greenlight anything shady either
Disney was being Disney and held themselves up to their weird standard.

A shit cartoon would not be on the air longer than 3-4 weeks in the 90s. There were a lot of them but they got buried fast for slightly better stuff most of the time.

Cringekino

Even Bill Hanna hated it and called Yogi a whoremonger.

>How come the 1990s didn't have any bad cartoons?
I remember there being a shit ton of awful celebrity cartoons. 90s live-action kid shows were better.

The Brothers Flub says hi.

Because it's 30 years ago. No one remembers the shit, when they fawn over the greats and talk about Animaniacs and Darkwing all the time. There were terrible shows back then, but decades past is all about nostalgia.

Little Shop, Mike Lou and Og, Sheep in the Big City, PRO Stars, Wish Kid, Stunt Dawgs, and that one with the dinosaurs that wore armor and fought the mafia dino guy in the dino city were all pretty shit.

I feel like the creative process of this show was exactly what we saw in the Itchy Scratchy and Poochie episode of Simpsons.

When Nintendo shows were fucking huge they made a cartoon about a lot of just shit-tier unknown NES game characters riding around in the Bigfoot monster truck having adventures. It was pretty bad.

>Sheep in the Big City
You take that back. It wasn't a great cartoon, but it was funny.

>Hammerman
>Brothers Grunt
>Brothers Flub
>CatDog
>Cow and Chicken
>Darkstalkers
>Mighty Ducks
>Pinky, Elmyra and the Brain
>Quack Pack
>Schnookums and Meat
>Stressed Erick
>Timon and Pumbaa
>Yo Yogi
All of these were from the 90's and sucked big time.

blinded by nostalgia

Remember that Yas Forums has a hateboner for cow and chicken

>Cow and Chicken
>Timon and Pumbaa
Those are great.

>that one with the dinosaurs that wore armor and fought the mafia dino guy in the dino city

Okay this is driving me insane. I have some very vague memories of this, all the little chibi dinosaur people in a futuristic dinosaur themed Chicago with saxophone music when they transformed.

Both are Ren & Stimpy knockoffs.

cow and chicken is good

i dint know whats anyones problem with it

There were loads of syndicated cartoons that were only on for a year or so to sell a toyline. And only came on weekday mornings so no one watched them.

Bots Master was pretty bad, Wish Kid sucked. And Adventures of Bruno was just fucking weird.

>never saw the brothers flub

her adult counterpart is better tho.

Was it even bad aside the theme song?

CatDog was fine. Wasn't great but wasn't exactly bad either.

So? That doesn't automatically make them bad.

You forget the Wacky World of Tex Avery

Can you shit harder on a man's legacy?

I think that's Extreme Dinosaurs

Remember fucking Dinosaucers? Hoooooly shit, what a turd.

turtlemania was at its peak back then.

>How come the 1990s didn't have any bad cartoons?
Pic related.
No, no it wasn't.

What year was Wild Thornberries?

Use google, you stupid asshole.

Nah, he's thinking of The Adventures of T-Rex.

>90s neo bauhaus shit

Why watch cheap knockoffs when you can watch the surperior version? That fact that both C&C and T&P share the exact same setup is worse.
>Two animals
>One is short and cocky, the other is fat and stupid, but has a kind heart
>The short animal usually is the one who gets hurt the most and make things worse
>The fat animal is disgusting and usually is the one who saves the short animal from danger
>Both shows have a everyman character (Red Guy and Quint)
>Both shows have segments that a much better than the main show (I Am Weasel and episodes about Rafiki, Zazu and the Hyenas)
Seriously, just watch Ren & Stimpy.

1998-2003

Oh, right.

>1998

Yup, theres a 90s turd.

Not a 1990s cartoon.
Also better than Beast Wars.

It definitely wasn't Extreme Dinosaurs. This had a style closer to Samurai Pizza Cats, with small western styled chibi dinosaurs and the bad guy was a mafia triceratops in a pinstriped suit.

And Three Friends and Jerry, and Whats With Andy, and Walter Melon, and Bad Dog, and Monster Farm, and Angela Anaconda...

Man, the Fox Family channel was such shit.

How do you filter tripfags?

A gun.

The 90s/early 2000s were objectively superior to what we had today in terms of entertainment, arguably it was the peak as well.

"muh nostalgia" is a shit argument, there's a reason everything emulates the 90s now. I have a 4 year old nephew who loves old 90s cartoons or the old Disney shorts, but shows no interest in current shit

What, Boco? He's been here for years. You get used to it.

Thank god for ABC Family and Jetex.

Eh, he's like that homeless guy you hired to live in your backyard to keep you entertained, and to show off how rich you are.

>there's a reason everything emulates the 90s now.
Like what?

99 user, that's 90's.

Nah it’s nostalgia

Current stuff is not really made for kids these days, it seems like no one making cartoons really thinks about what a kid would want to see. But what the creators themselves and their friends would want to see. Owl house, Star Vs, Steven Universe, We Bear Bears, these shows are more liked by older teens and adults who like cartoons.

People understood in the 90s kids fucking love robots, guns, dinosaurs, grossout stuff, belching, that kind of thing. Who cares if it made sense or had decent continuity. Wakko belches and kids laugh, Exo Squad shoot lasers and kids think that's fucking amazing. No one older than 13 likes most of this stuff, but it was never intended for anyone over 13 to want to watch it anyway. Street Fighter cartoon does suck to any street fighter fan, but it's pretty great to a 7 year old.

Shows today are more about showing friends being friends learning life lessons, accepting things, crying, drama, kids mostly don't care about that. They want cool action, cool looking characters, and funny. There is a reason kids love Teen titans Go, while adults mostly hate it.

Are you high? There was plenty of awful cartoons in the 90s.

>implying Mega Babies is good

Sheep is from the 2000s. It's no more 90's than Tiny Toon Adventures is 80's.

Oh fuck off Boco, that show was great.

This, anything Flea is in can't be bad, right?

ren and stimpy relied on shock too much

last i remember Dumb and Dumber and Captain planet are in the 90/

That was groundbreaking for it's time, these shitters have no excuse and do the bare minimum in terms of grossout humor. No shock, no distorted music, no background that changes when a character goes insane, no anything. Cow & Chicken for instance is just butt jokes through and through.

>her adult counterpart is better tho
True.
