Out of curiosity, without the stones what can Thanos do? I almost exclusively know what he can do with the stones or cube or some other insane power-up, not what he alone can do.

From what I've seen, base Thanos could still probably overpower or at least survive any physical attacks, but he'd have problems with genjutsu and rinnegan stuff. Any Thanos with power ups win pretty easily. Madara stomps movie Thanos at least.

At his base form, Thanos is incredibly powerful already, capable of fighting against beings like Thor, Hulk and Silver Surfer, sometimes all at once. And his tech is insane, he’s even got a time machine. He’s also capable of manipulating powerful energy, and even has access to psychic powers and magic, and being backed up by Death

If he can fight all of those guys then the best chance Madara would have would be full god-tree six paths Madara/Kaguya vs a base Thanos with no outside help or power up, which sort of seems a bit unfair but even so it's unlikely Madara could outright overpower as much as outlast and outmaneuver using genjutsu and regen. Naruto's power scaling doesn't scale up to Marvel/DC's.

Thanos is fucking broken. Even in a universe where Death no longer exists, he can deliver a permanent one

No idea about comic thanos, but every Madara speadmogs movie Thanos. Thanos isn't even lightning level speed.

To be fair, comparing movie Thanos to comic Thanos is like comparing Man of Steel Superman to comic Superman, or DB Evolution Goku to Super Goku.

Comic Thanos has nothing to worry about with the genjutsu (he's had mental battles with an already powerful psychic in possession of the mind stone already) and destroys Madara in a physical fight.

Not really fair to throw Thanos into the upper/cosmic tiers of Marvel/DC. He'd be high mid tier but even then have some issues. His interactions with Dr. Doom would be fantastic.

Thanos unlocked Silver Surfers memories with his psychic powers alone, the gems tend to downplay many of his feats.
Tsukuyomi is impressive, but marvel's universe psychics are better. Im sure thanos would stomp hagoromo.

Pretty much, Thanos became the fucking universe itself, MCU really weakened him.

Overly complicated but basically a mix of tricking Thanos into letting himself lose. He attained the stones because he wanted to impress Death, but she wouldn't even talk with him. It's also generally accepted that Thanos wanted to lose, at least after he'd already won at that time, partially because again he was madly in love with Death.

Psychology, Thanos will often subconsciously leave a way for others to defeat him in the long run. And simply because Thanos is powerful, doesn’t make him the strongest. Even he knows he could never lay a scratch on Galactus in a straight fight

But if Thanos can give Thor a hell of a fight, which Thor can beat Beta Ray Bill, who was about to kill Galactus. Something isn't adding up here...
