And in the movies? I am hoping for a moment where Peter is knocked down in the final boss fight, gets up, eyes glowing, and delivers a stone cold: "I am Star-Lord."

Comic readers care but they are irrelevant. The comics don't exist anymore to be entertaining as it is. They exist to promote much more profitable products. One of the biggest reasons so much cringe inducing progressive shit is pushed into the comics is because it gets the woke crowd excited and they will spam those images on social media. They get them advertising the brand and forgetting that they bench fags in the movies for the foreign box office.

Groot became. "I am Groot" in Annihilation. That wasn't the movie's fault. And Rocket was improved by the movies. At least it gave them a semi-coherent idea for the character.

What Bendis and the next hack writers did was IGNORE. Rocket suddenly stood on top of piles of corpses. He did nothing but spout memes and "Blam! Killed you!", unable to form bonds with anyone, unable to settle down with a girl, now he was a womanizer murderous fucking psychopath whose expertise was escaping prisons. That's not an improvement. This thread is about how characters were ruined in the COMICS. What happened to Rocket was complete character assassination. Granted, Ewing salvaged it in the Rocket series, but that was a lifeline, not a natural development.

yes those were literally the only two instances in the entire run and were primarily for comic relief. groot was otherwise a two dimensional meme character throughout their run, there to talk funny like R2-D2 and bail the team out by blowing himself up
