Are they though? MCU Wanda's origin is not tied to mutants at all. And the general audience id used to, and accepts that. There's literally no reason for them to change it. they can bring in mutants and keep her as is, which in turn will leave comic Wanda as is.

No one wants Polaris to be Magneto's kid. The only reason they made her his kid, after YEARS of mocking the idea, was due to Morrison being a retard who only read the Stenerko drawn issues of Polaris's intro arc (meaning he missed the ending where it's revealed Lorna isn't his kid and Magneto was lying) and thought she was his kid, forcing Austen to have to spend the b-plot for the Draco canonizing her as his kid because no one dared cut the line from the Morrison issue before publication.

Lorna's best either being the universe's chew toy as far as woobie material goes, or as a normie ala Havok, who just so happens to have super powers and reacts to super-hero life as a normal person would in terms of being a direct contrast to Scott and Jean being hardcore child soldiers for Xavier.

Claremont once pitched having Zaladane brought back in Xtreme X-Men (now with Earth powers ala Terra) and the editors told him to fuck off because no one likes Zaladane.

Fuck, even Mark Grunwald had to replace her with a sexually ambiguous masked villain in Captain America, as he wanted to use her as a villain in a Savage Land arc but was told he couldn't use her.

Not to mention that PAD explicitly left Zaladane out of the equation when he wrote the definitive version of Polaris's backstory

No one wants to deal with the huge fucking plot hole of the power switch and what Claremont was planning with Lorna's powers during the Disolution and Rebirth era, or that Claremont never intended to give Lorna her magnetic powers back so long as he wrote the book

If they bring back the Maximoff twins, it will be an uphill battle for Lorna just like in the early 00s. She was always the least liked by fans and writers among the Magneto children. If they remove Lorna as one of his children as well, she might as well not as exist. Her only other claim to fame is being one of Havoc’s bed warmers. And being queen of X-Factor, I guess.

Morrison never read the full introduction arc, just the Steranko issues (#50-51) and never read the ending that revealed that Lorna wasn't Magneto's kid (or the subsequent arc where it was reveaeld that the Magneto in the Arnold Drake run was a robot or the Machinesmith Marvel Universe Handbook Deluxe Edition entry that had Gruenwald handwave Machinesmith as the guy who built the Magneto bot, as X-Men got canceled before Roy Thomas could explain who built it and Claremont doubled down on not explaining it by having Magneto explicitly state he never met Mesmero before he beat him up in UXM #111-113.

Actually editorial forced Chuck to "fix" Morrison's fuck-up by explaining why Lorna was calling Magneto her dad in NXM and use that to undo his rape of Lorna, as Sacred Vows pissed a LOT of people off and damage control was forced upon Austen to rationalize Austen shitting on Lorna.

Austen revealed that Lorna started researching her parents' plane crash after Eve of Extinction (the last arc before Morrison took over) and found that the cause of the crash had something to do with magnetism causing it to crash. Magneto found out what Lorna was doing and preemptively tried to stop her from going on a roaring rampage of revenge against him for murdering her parents by revealing to Genoshans everywhere in a huge public announcement that Lorna was his daughter. Lorna arrived at Genosha to kill Magneto just as Cassandra Nova's sentinels wiped out 99.9% of the population and Lorna's OOC behavior Austen forced upon her, being caused by her last moments awake before the Sentinels knocked her unconscious and somehow forgot about her) was "Magneto was right" after watching hundreds of mutants be killed right in front of her.

You aren't a true X-Fan given that if you were, you'd know most X-Fans are OK with SW/QS being Magneto's kids but under the Avengers banner. And as someone else on this thread has repeatedly stated, that X-Fans want Polaris not to be Magneto's daughter and go back to being Havok's girlfriend and leading X-Factor with him ala the 90s.

Was X-Factor really popular in the 90s? Most of the time, the only time I hear X-Factor talked about, was the Post-House of M/00s version with Maddrox and Layla

The original PAD X-Factor run is super popular, and has been reprinted multiple times. The 00s series has it's fans but also sold for shit, with a running joke being that had PAD made it more like his first run, with Lorna and Alex and did crossovers and such, like he was forced to do in the 90s, it would have sold way better. Hasbro even has bee turning out action figures based upon the 90s line-up, with everyone being in their Stroman designed outfits.

Wanda can't really have anything to do with the X-Men as they all hate her. The retcon was IMHO partly because the X-Men are a dear end for her.

Agatha Harkness is in WandaVision, and Wanda has a big role in the Doctor Strange sequel.

If she were a mutant they would not put her in a Doctor Strange movie, as that would confuse audiences.

Natalya is Wanda's mother, though.

Not convinced, most of the reactions against this aren't about how it was done, nor even why Ike demanded it, it's because something that was canon for over 30 years was changed and readers usually react badly to old established canon being changed.

Avengers readers who don't care about Wanda and Pietro's ties to the X-books learned to live with it, or accept it as good for Wanda after Bendis made X-fags hate her, but those X-fags only know them as Magneto's children, and many have reacted like something was stolen from them.
