Wow this was a horrible episode. Why'd Sugar even make this series? There was literally no point. Shouldve ended with the movie.

i've really liked Future, but yeah these were some awful episodes

tha fuck is steven universe? never heard of it.

What was wrong with it?

Nothing happens. There's no plot anymore.

It gave Bismuth more fleshing out as to how her life is doing and showed Connie still loves Steven. It's wrong because OP just wants an episode with only Steven in it fucking Spinel

Wrong. I hate spinel. Literally the worst gem ever.

>There's no plot anymore.
'Anymore'?

Did you really, REALLY need to make another fucking thread for this? I don't understand, you guys are always talking about how bad this show is. Its always "Steven tumblrberse this, steven shitverse that", and yet you continue to watch it every time it airs and talk about it. Its the only show that continuously gets 1000 posts in the talk back threads. And yet you continue, year after fucking year, ever since 2013, to make threads about this show. Just stop fucking watching it. I've never even watched a single episode of this thing, and yet constantly, CONSTANTLY, im FORCED to see you winges make unecessary threds about it FOR YEARS. I remember when the pilot aired, i though "Oh wow this looks like an alright adventure time clone, might be cool". Of course I was busy with college at the time and never got round to watching it but it never bothered me. And then that fucking Jailbreak episode premiered and everybody suddenly lost their shit, this board never recovered since that day. Ever since then people would tune in to watch it and then they would talk about their "best gem". Fucking stop. I can't wait until this fucking show is over and i stop seeing youtube videos about how its "the worst show in history". I don't fucking care just stop fucking talking about it. Please. Never make another thread again.

You're wrong, it gives development and closure to Bismuth plus the plot is Steven growing up as a person and getting used to regular human things now that corrupted gems and homeworld are gone.

>Sugar says religion doesn’t exist in SU
>Muslim girl appears
Huh?

up until after the movie there was some as-semblance of a goal or plot they were trying to achieve. Now theres nothing to be done. It could go into the realm of dealing with whoever created the diamonds, but it doesn't appear to be going in that direction. Instead its about steven going through puberty and inheriting all of Pink's bad traits.

>getting used to regular human things now that corrupted gems and homeworld are gone.
This actually sounds good and I wish Future focused on this. But it’s thrown out by the next episode of the leaks are anything to go by.

Because Sugar is incompetent and only does things to seem "open minded" even if it makes no sense.

The future hasn't been so bright for Stevonnie. They used to be much cuter.

Stevonnie thicc porn redeemed an otherwise S1 tier episode.

it was shit. The dialogue was awful, Connie's soul was like sucked out before the episode or something, the overt random Bismuth/Pearl shipping just gives off the air that whoever storyboarded the episode just has a boner for the couple rather than actual new development for the characters, we get Stevonnie but no lines clearly didn't have her VA which is whatever but doesn't make it less awkward just like when Sardonyx showed up in Back to the Moon.

the good things about the episode are: Steven's line "If they were aliens trying to kill me I bet I'd be best friends with them by now" that's great, I liked how they continued the tradition of Bismuth giving Steven the best advice, and Steven feeling himself being distanced from Connie would have been a good development...if Connie didn't have the personality of a beige towel, and Pearl was good in this episode they know how to write her as the awkward alien trying her best to fit in.

Given how many people complained about Stevonnie being sexualized, I guess they took it to heart

Aquamarine is shit

Thicc was all Stevonnie was good for. They had no speaking lines.
Would you believe me if I told you it got worse?

>up until after the movie there was some as-semblance of a goal or plot they were trying to achieve.
user, the show has always, ALWAYS, treated the plot as an inconvenience that needs to be delayed for as long as possible and then dealt with as quickly and efficiently as possible. They literally could not have wrapped things up harder with the finale and now you're complaining about how it's just doing what it has done since it started, only without pretending that the 'deepest lore' shit was ever gonna go anywhere? Are you stupid?

That isn't fair, they had plenty of "lore" episodes or episodes where the characters have some sort of objective. I understand where user is coming from that these episodes just feel boring with no overarching narrative, I do think Steven's mental health is enough to carry the show but only if the episodes are actually good and the supplementary characters do their job well

>You're wrong, it gives development and closure to Bismuth
It really doesn’t. It gave Bismuth a crush on Pearl and then put it to bed in the same episode, just so we can have a reversal of Pearl’s arc.
Bismuth’s status as a servant gem, her beef with the Diamonds, her feelings over Rose/Pink, cracking Lapis, it all gets glossed over.

Uh oh, RETARD ALERT

>bu bu IT DOESN'T COUNT

Bismuth was flirting with Pearl in her very first episdoe. Cope.

SU has always been a character driven show first and a story one absolutely second. In fact you could say it was pitched as "aliens learn fee fee management from a little boy" rather than some epic space conflict some retarded anons took it for.

Mongoloids always make the worst threads. It's the stupidest ones too, never anything of value other than "MOMMY I DON'T LIKE THE TOY GET ME ANOTHER ONE".

>they had plenty of "lore" episodes or episodes where the characters have some sort of objective
That are vastly outnumbered by townie and character-driven episodes. The show has never been about the story first.

>Bismuth was flirting with Pearl in her very first episdoe. Cope.
no she wasn't, that was good friends being reunited and not like this episode with Bismuth looking longingly at Pearl with sudden eyelashes bedazzling her eyes. I would be fine with them becoming a couple if it was handled better rather than dumping it on us in one episode, you do get the impression this is just one storyboarders boner for the couple and this will probably not be addressed again later in the show leaving it canonically as them just being friends.

To be honest, I think there’s too little time this late in the game. I think 20 episodes is too little to handle this kind of topic and it would have benefited focus from the main show.

You're underestimating the amount of crucial episodes in the original show, and even in the episodes where the "story" wasn't featured it still permeated throughout the show. This episode did feel like the most bottom of the barrel filler where simply they felt obligated to have Steven and Connie in an episode together before they break up which I wish wasn't spoiled for us but oh well.

The problem is that everyone outside the Gems and their closest friends are boring as characters. So you have a character driven show with characters that few people care about.

Sugar wants to tease every single ship.
Becky oversees everything. Bismuth/Pearl was there because she wanted it there.

Is it just me or have the human designs gotten uglier? The original townies look like shojo anime characters in comparison to Shep and Pearl’s friends.

>Becky oversees everything. Bismuth/Pearl was there because she wanted it there.
what a load, the storyboarders do have a lot of control over their episodes and she's already shown it's fine to shiptease this is not the first time it has happened so many people convinced themselves Lapis and Peridot were going to become a couple too because of Zuke

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Steven ended up with Lars given her love of gay ships. He’s close to turning 18 after all.

This is why SJWs shouldn't be allowed to create cartoons. Cartoons should have plots., a story to tell, not this feelfag shit.

Yeah a lot of the crew members have their own ships, some more obvious than others. Maya Petersen is a huge Amedot fan, Raven Molisee was into Larsadie, and even Kat Morris shipped Sadie with Buck. That last one I’m actually sad about.

The new He Man cartoon might be promising. I want to see how a studio can take a cartoon like MotU and make it a coherent story. If all else, we get a bitching voice cast.

>Lapis and Peridot were going to become a couple too because of Zuke
They basically are tho

should have ended with Ocean Gem, better to end with some stuff unresolved than the heaps of unresolved plot points and disappointing resolutions to the few that don't get dropped that we have get and will get

I ship Buck with his love for medical school. Also Steven.
>Maybe Becky's just trying to satisfy the crew.

It’s amazing how Future made me look at CYM and go “You know, this is a perfectly fine ending.” I’d even say the movie is a good stopping point. Between this and Sugar saying she has one more surprise for us, I’m starting to think she’s milking the series.

That just means more spin-offs.

For a show that gets praised for so much foreshadowing, I really felt they could have given some hints for him wanting to join med school.

>Too cool for foreshadowing.
You go to med school to learn how to act cool. The coolness was the foreshadowing.

I honestly can’t imagine what a world where SU ended that soon would be like. The show gets most of it’s fame from being really gay, which didn’t happen until The Return; if it ended on Ocean Gem, it’d be quickly forgotten about.

It would have been largely forgotten but remembered as a cute, interesting little show with decent animation
Which is far better than just being known for lesbo pandering

Normally I'd be outraged but considering Stevonnie is two children in a trench coat, having her be sexy to start with was kinda fucked up.

Connie should have been a cute boy.

>The series stops at Ocean Gem.
>Develops a cult following of people thinking it was cut before it’s prime.
>Begin making fanfiction about where the series could have gone.
>Eventually fans start to petition to bring the series back.
>Years later, Sugar brings it back for one season to give it a proper finale.
My crazy theory anyways.

Steg is a combo between a father and son and they got sexuallized way more than Stevonnie, he literally humped at the camera with visible sweaty abs

Apparently this was intentional, as the show runners wanted to teach kids about consent and puberty, which is also why everyone hit on Stevonnie.
Yeah Alone Together was kind of creepy looking back.

Steven fucked his dad.

>They used to be much cuter.
True, but now they're THICC.

I think you're just a faggot. Don't worry, electricity will cure that.

Shut up, liar. You have no source whatsoever

What’s worse is how the fandom reacted; they went full crusader on anyone who even made a dirty joke about Stevonnie but openly expressed desire to fuck Steg. Kind of a double standard there.

It's not gay if he's cute.

Eh, 6/10

Here she is though.

The headdress is cultural long before it became religious. It is usually associated with societies that developed in desert regions to protect them from sun and sandy wind.
