I can't figure out, from a pure business standpoint, why anyone thought replacing Captain America with a black guy was a good idea.
I can't figure out, from a pure business standpoint...
the comics did it you casuals
>from a business standpoint
Learn what words mean, retard.
Because you can't forced someone to do the same character forever, Jacks Evans wanted to move on from Captain America, otherwhise he will still be it.
Also iron man is going to get replaced by a black woman
They do this to keep things fresh, watching the same actor in the same role for the millionth time is boring
Black American men don't look heroic. Nobody is going to buy tickets to watch a black guy superhero when he reminds the viewer of the local homeless who begs for change or the mugshot of a murderer/rapist they saw on the news last night, at least not when the superhero is supposed to embody the super goody two-shoes American ideal. The image of the black American is tarnished beyond repair, mostly due to their own actions. This isn't even getting into how universally despised black Americans are overseas, especially in big movie nations like China or India. The only way you'd get away with it is if you got some extremely distinctive weird-looking black for the role, like what James Bond did with Grace Jones.
Fpbp
Because there's a crowd that diversity for the sake of it appeals to, namely middle class women, who happen to make most of the audience that waste their lives watching countless hours of TV series on streaming services.
Besides Evans was retiring, and Falcon will probably not be Cap permanently.
Black Panther is the highest grossing superhero movie of all time that doesn't have "Avengers" in its title.
Stop replying to obvious trollbait god dammit.
Black Panther came after a long list of critically-acclaimed Marvel movies. If it was released on its own without any of the prior Disney power chugging behind it (as well as stupid shit like inner cities taking entire schools to see it) it would have done about as well as Hancock. It doesn't stand out even among that particular pantheon.
You can't tell me what to do!
It's simple really
>Captain America is made
>Falcon is his buddy
>Falcon takes over
From a business standpoint, SHINY NEW HERO is always going to have some appeal, even if it eventually doesn't work out, and even if, like this case, there's not much new to it.
You know there's a whole board for this kind of stupidity, right? I assume you guys can at least read. It's the one that says "pol" between the fun little lines.
>why change characters or designs
to sell more merch
Anthony Mackie is a good actor who is charming and Chris Evans is done with the role. The only other candidate is Bucky who is a tired war criminal who wants to rest
Yet it made more money than literally every other solo movie under the critically-acclaimed Marvel brand.
You won't argue with me because you know I'm right. Black leads are a huge detriment to movies. Will Smith, Idris Elba and Denzel Washington at their best can't rake in the numbers Tom Cruise or Bruce Willis can on a bad day, especially not overseas. All you can do is call me a racist for pointing out basic patterns any movie executive would agree with (privately of course.)
explain the success of blade
I won't argue with you because I know this isn't the place for your dumbassery, go back to your flock.
You won't argue because you're wrong. Once Black Panther isn't the latest standalone Marvel hero movie and it's no longer the top grossing ("a-after we ignore the other 4 in front of it" you gormlessly argue) maybe you'll realize I'm right. But probably not, you sniveling little pop culture worm. You don't seem to understand even basic business accumen that's proven true for decades.
Why do you have pictures of men modeling saved on your harddrive?
>from a pure business standpoint
because hes gay but still cant manage to suck as much penis as you do marvelcuck
Companies chase the money. That's all you need to know.
Funnily enough, even when Bruce Willis was at the top of his star power, Will Smith starring movies were still outgrossing his.
I’m a pre-Crisis DChad though
People keep citing Black Panther as if it wasn't shown up by Joker, Aquaman and the Avengers movies. What are you people going to do when some other Marvel character standalone film makes more money, just as Black Panther did to the "top grossing superhero movie" before it?
The movie didn't make money because it stars blacks, it made money in spite of it.
>113509727
>latest standalone Marvel hero movie
>a literal child out-grossed Will Smith at the height of his popularity
Oh no
>Avengers movies
Imagine needing a team movie to beat a solo lmao
Aquaman is also played by a fucking Mutt, Joker is the true DChad movie
>You won't argue with me because you know I'm right. Black leads are a huge detriment to movies. >The movie didn't make money because it stars blacks, it made money in spite of it.
this makes no sense, especially after two ant-man films
This is the part where the person arguing would give up and just stuff you into a locker. You're ten times worse than Yas Forums ever could be simply because you're a dumbass.
Oh and

Also, when I saw the passing of the shield in Endgame I thought to myself: Why not Bucky tho? And it took me 3 seconds to realise that the Winter Soldier is guilty of a lot of assassinations and many other crimes, and he was asociated with HYDRA so from a PR standpoint Falcon makes more sense. I'm somewhat looking forward to it. Dunno if Mackie is able to pull it off, but it works on many levels having a Cap America that is also themed around a bird...just like an eagle, eh? Also:This will NOT happen
the power of black panther fans everyone
Shouldn't Bucky be the one to take up the mantle in the show?
OH NO NO NO DCHADS
HOW IS IT POSSIBLE?
You will notice Will Smith wasn't the central star of any of those movies. He wasn't even among the top billed, in one he was some fighter pilot and in the other he was being hand-held by an old man.
But it made more money that those that didn't star blacks... And when another movie takes over well it will still have made easily enough money to dismiss the idea that you can't make money with a black lead.
By that reasoning fucking Rey out-grossed Cruise in his most succesful decade too.
It's part of the mouse's plan. generate buzz with cap giving the shield to falcon, then when the series starts they will take it away and give it to bucky or us agent to generate more buzz. Can't wait for the endless race thread spam.
>pre-Crisis
Absolutely based
You're missing the point. Black Panther made money after Marvel released a pantheon of movies, set a standard for superhero films, had practice and forged a pop culture reputation. If all this shit began with Black Panther it wouldn't have gone anywhere. Use your brain.
This motherfucker keeps trying to ice skate uphill
I don't know how much more plainly I can explain this simple truth. Does anyone have child's building blocks? Do you figure it would help him?
Absolutely based
>He wasn't even among the top billed
Except Black Panther did better than both Joker and Aquaman solo movies, certainly kicking their shit in domestically by more than double the amount. The Avengers is a team movie, so you can't really draw a comparison there.
Marvel is approaching a deathknell, Avengers shit was a 2010's fad and they realize people are getting bored of it. This is an effort at trying to incite new interest in something stale.
>simple truth
Surely if it’s the truth you would have actual, concrete evidence besides “shit out of my ass” right?
Bucky made more sense, both from his relationship with Cap and his power level. I'll just assume he absurdly turned it down but also chose not to back to the past for some reason. If the show is them sharing the mantle I can deal with it.
>The Avengers is a team movie, so you can't really draw a comparison there.
Then why are you trying to do it with
?
After a hit like Joker I think people are starting to realize how shallow and empty the Marvel movies really are. They're the microwave burrito of cinema. Endgame dropped, was the biggest grossing movie of all time, and was promptly forgotten about two weeks later.
Yet Spider-Man, both of his movies, STILL made less money. Fucking Spider-Man. Or Thor 3. Or Captain Marvel.
>inb4 b-but
MCU is hot trash but joker is "babies first "arthouse" cinema"
Not the same people.
Why are you moving the goalposts?
Based and redpilled
Well for one thing,
Black Panther budget
>200 million USD (before advertisement)
Black Panther profit
>$1.3 billion
Joker budget
>$55 million (after advertisement)
Joker profit
>$1 billion
Black Panther wasn't allowed to lose. It's a Disney property, which ultimately means it had every handicap and set of training wheels in existence to compensate for starring blacks.
>Spider-Man, both of his movies, STILL made less money
What? Every Spiderman movie combined, under Sony, made more than Black Panther for less budget.
I'm not defending the quality of Joker, but no one can deny it's certainly got a lot more 'depth' and maturity than the Marvel movies and I think that's possibly the direction capeshit might turn in to. We're definitely in the twilight of Marvel movies though. Everything after Endgame is gonna feel lesser if they continue to make these beyond formulaic movies.
This proves nothing beyond the fact that the joker is more popular character than black panther
Where is the PROOF that the MCU would have flopped if Black Panther was the first, given it started with fucking iron man?
Bruh why the fuck you lying, Spider-Man 3 alone is 250 mil USD
