It's been 3 years since Superman #15 came out and revealed what happened to Earth-14, one of the 7 secret planets in the New 52 Multiverse.
>Earth-14 = Unknown world #1 [Justice League of Assassins; Killed by the Gentry except Superman, who is Captured by Prophecy.]
Since then, nothing else has happened. I'm completely out of the loop when it comes to any mainline DC stories, so can anyone tell me if this plotline just got completely aborted, or if it's just on hold, what the hell were the Gentry, and did UltraMan from Earth-33 ever do anything other than be philosophically engaging.
MULTIVERSITY
Other urls found in this thread:
Morrison is apparently continuing part of this with his GL which seems to lead the Multiversity’s sequel, the Gentry were villainous archetypes taken to their extreme and Ultra Comics hasn’t been seen since
We got Earth-52 revealed in Dark Knights Rising: The Wild Hunt (Primate world), although it's technically beyond the local multiverse alongside some other unumbered Earths that appear in the final issue of Dark Knights Metal like the Dark Knight Returns one. The Gentry also briefly appeared there, although its plot didn't really progress in any way.
Some Earths have been destroyed in the recent Perpetua stuff, but it also has been revealed that changes like that won't stick unless she wins in the end to reconfigure the multiverse, which has a way of readjusting itself (thus Earth-3 and the Crime Syndicate being back to life already).
Also, Morrison in Green Lantern had the cosmic grail used to restore Earth-15, although now it's an universe ruled by the Dark Stars.
Morrison is a hack.
Not as much as you, since you always make the exact same posts
You're a hack
It was revealed in The Terrifics that Earth-25 is the America's Best Comics universe
I saw that on the wiki, but it didn't cite a source. What issue?
That was Earth -52 of the Dark Multiverse. Earth-52 is the world of the New52 as show in Doomsday Clock.
It's issue 7
Thank you.
I thought that was Earth-53
Are the source and overvoid one single being?
According to Batman: The Red Death, Earth -52 of the Dark Multiverse is where The Red Death comes from.
Fits more for a Flashpoint counterpart. Speedster fucking things up for everybody
Dark Knights Rising: The Wild Hunt introduced a new Earth to the Multiverse, featuring the Primate Legion, who were last seen in DC One Million 80 Page Giant.
They refer to themselves as "The 53rd World", which should be Earth +52 since the numbering starts at 0.
So is Morrison doing a Kirby new gods?
I mean creating a meta concept through many stories?
But Doomsday Clock #12 claimed that Earth +52 is actually The New 52, with Superbro and all of them.
However Geoff Johns' method of designating Earths seems to be more in line with the outdated, pre-crisis method. They include Earths designated with absurdly large numbers (+1985) and Earths designated with non-number characters (5G). This is in stark contrast to the streamed designation method established by Multiversity, where Earths are always designated with numbers only and are generally numbered sequentially, with no large gaps in between numbers.
An updated guidebook clearing this all up would be appreciated.
Are you new to Morrison?
Isnt that old news?
Freedom Fighters is a sequel to Master Men.
No, but i dont follow him that much.
So i assumed he limited it to multiversity only.
>Perpetua stuff
All Snyder shit isn't canon
It was called the "53th known Earth" when introduced rather than outright referenced as "Earth-52" or some other specific number, but it specifically wasn't a Dark Multiverse Earth, but just part of the light multiverse beyond the known 52 Earths (remember, those start from Prime Earth/0 and then go up to 51).
It's basically his entire shtick
Meta stuff yes. That is similar to moore writing about magic, chtulu stuff.
But did he used a connected metaverse? I meant new gods kirby, not the kirbyverse.
So he creates his own Kirbyverse?
Different event.
JLApe was a story were Gorilla Grodd turned the Justice League into gorillas.
The Primate Legion are a team of heroes in the 853rd century who protect a planet that was colonized by Gorilla City after they left Earth in the 22nd Century.
DC One Million preceded JLApe by one year.
Zatanna was not using her classic costume in 1985.
Johns is a hack.
Do we have a list of things that connect into Multiversity in any significant way?
He's had an entire meta-narrative running through most of his DC works called the Fifth World
Than i remember that wrong.
Logically, but we have no confirm.
New Gods is it, if it is only DC, Kirbyverse is it when it includes other publishers as well.
Is Green Latern issue 2 coming out this week or next week?
>frequency measured in wavelengths
Can the writers at least try a little bit? It obviously can't be real science, but they picked the two least compatible words to use.
The recent 12 issue Dial H mini-series is the secret follow-up to this series.
Check it out.
Is Earth Q the Fifth World? Most of Morrison's works reference this infant universe which has no superheroes (could be our timeline) only for supergods to come populate it from a different reality. See Flex Mentallo. Earth Q is JLA: Classified #1-3 and that sets up Seven Soldiers, Batman, Final Crisis and All Star Superman.
Annihilator had a stealth Multiversity tie-in so Morrisonverse it is
Eh, not really a fair comparison. The majority of Morrison’s work involves meta elements, while only a handful of Moore stuff is about Lovecraft, and in fact I dont think he ever mentions Cthulu once. Swamp Thing, Mister Miracle, Tom Strong, GL, Superman, Top Ten, Big Numbers—no lovecraft references as far as I can recall.
Its like you are a fucking casual who doesn’t actually read comics.
>Annihilator had a stealth Multiversity tie-in
????
Is one of the worlds Flex Mentallo‘s? Also, is there any hints that Flex is part of the Supermen of Multiverse?
I forget which issue but there's a whole sequence where the main character asks WHO'S THAT KNOCKING ON THE DOOR
That certainly seems to be what Morrison is implying, along with Earth-Q being our world. It also ties in to his interpretation of the New Gods as higher dimensional beings projecting themselves into the DC Universe, just like Superman is a higher dimensional being being projected into Earth-Q in ASS
yes yes your reference is very clever bravo
Is ASS even in canon though? Solaris and Earth Q say yes, but everything else seems to say no.
Through Hypertime
All things are canon to the Hypercrisis
miss me with that gay shit
As long as DC One Million is canon, All-Star is canon. No matter what comics DC puts out, All-Star is the "final" Superman story set after all of them, before his return hundreds of thousands of years later at the end of One Million.
no user
you are the gays
for you
You guys just don't understand the full extent of Morrison's megalomania. It's the FUCKING HYPER CRISIS MORRISON IS TRYING TO ALTER REALITY BY SEEDING THE EARTH WITH HIS SUPER SIGILS
This is way bigger than DC...
Not sure if it was ever mentioned user. There appears to be an overarching connection between the Supermen of the Multiverse. Along with them being Superman clones, characters associated with the theme of atom of have been included.
Examples include a Dr. Manhattan version of Captain Atom and a pulp version of the golden age Atom. One must wonder if the regular Captain Atom, Dr. Manhattan and Ray Palmer Atom are also considered Supermen.
Not sure what Grant Morrison is trying to say by connecting these character archetypes with Superman. Though he isn’t the first, as Bruce Tim’s Justice League cartoon have them meeting with a JSA homage called the Justice Guild of America. One member Tom Turbine, has been noted by Timm to have been based on both Al Pratt Atom and Golden Age Superman.
Do any of you Yas Forumsmrades have any theories?
based
>One must wonder if the regular Captain Atom, Dr. Manhattan and Ray Palmer Atom are also considered Supermen.
I don't think Morrison would see it as a coincidence that a former Superman, Brandon Routh, went on to play Ray Palmer. There's also the Tangent universe, whose Superman analog is the Atom.
It's also worth pointing out that Morrison grew up in fear of the atom bomb, and fell in love with Superman because he sees Superman as an idea that can beat the idea of the bomb. Maybe the idea of Superman is so powerful that it has "purified" the idea of the atom bomb?
If Superman is so good against an atomic bomb then why did it kill everyone in Kingdom Come
Didn't kill him, did it?
>dubs
>post makes sense
Hypercrisis is real!
Those are excellent points user. I’m sure there are More examples that link the Atom with Superman out there.
Where does Perpetua and the Dark multiverse fit in here
