You know what's great? History

You know what's great? History.

You know what's better? History in comic book form.

You know what's grand? History through the eyes of Warren Ellis.

And for gits and shiggles, here's Doktor Sleepless. Probablly what I'll end up posting next.

Who doesn't love mad science with Lovecraftian themes, ya know?

So much topics about Crecy and Agincourt.
As far I know they would never penetrate a nobility's armor. But that doesn't make longbow barrage any less successful to cripple such advance + some of the arrows could find a sweet spot to make actual penetration to flesh.

Ellis wouldn't know actual history if it came up an fucked him in the arse.

You might as well call 300 an accurate depiction of Battle of Thermopylae

Well instead of going full ad hominem how about you just enjoy the comic for the fun and touches on history it goes through, kay?

Hey Doktor Sleepless. Still bummed that it died.

Apparently he lost the scripts for that, and Fell in a computer crash, among some other works. Quite a bummer.

>Fire Arrows

Yeah, F for accuracy there. Fire arrows aren't a thing used by English armies at that time. That's just a movie thing.

What's wrong with it?

What fire arrows? Razing a building doesn't require fire arrows, none of the arrows are on fire there.

But hey, good effort at pedantry. I absolve thee.

>What's wrong with it?

He's going full pedant and I imagine he's the one who mentioned 'fire arrows' despite the page he responded to has no arrows on fire.

Entertaining in a typical Ennis way.

Swearing, informative to a degree, and enough to bring out a chuckle?

Thanks for the storytime, finally got around to reading this as a result. Gotta say some issues aside it is fantastic to see any comic trying to do at least somewhat accurate portrayal of historical warfare

It literally says in the text "...burning out villages. Loosing fire arrows from treelines"

Fair enough then.

Besides the English self-wanking, the description of the battle is mostly accurate I guess, but I think he overstates its influence on military strategy. More specifically when he says that the battle ended cavalry charges for the next two centuries. The French successfully used cavalry charges several times later in the war, and Crecy wasn't the first time that knights had been defeated by footsoldiers either.
