Is it leaving them behind if they're the cause of his problems, and the solution is to find his own path?

Betting the ending is Steven getting corrupted and Steven being stuck in his mind a la Neon Genesis. He meets his mother within his mind and Steven goes off on her for like a solid minute. Rose admits her faults and tells him how much better he is and that her failures don't make him who he is. Steven comes to terms with his mother and learns to forgive and love his mother "love like you" plays and Steven returns to normal. Queue the literal ending of Neon Genesis where all the gems and townfolk tell Steven "congratulations".

As it stands right now, I don’t see how he going away from his family and home will make him any better. His entire problem is that he doesn’t want to talk about his issues to someone else because he’s scared of the reaction, so how does that connect to “leave everything?”. The conclusion will obviously be him talking about it with his friends, but that has to happen in beach city with them.

How is going to another city going to be any different than being in his home? Gem and human integration is global, so everywhere he goes there’s gonna be gems. Gems are never not going to be part of his life.

But he’s not. Even if he wants to, he’s not. And if he tries, he will eventually just use his powers again. If he ends in a quiet little town he will use his healing powers when a friend is damaged, he’s not going to not help someone in need.
The show has yet to give us any reason that him leaving will fix anything. He’s afraid to end up alone and his ending is him isolating himself from everyone?

No, his problem is that he depends too much on helping others, he needs to overcome his fear of being alone by being on his own

But if he just moves then he would just start helping other people. Steven doesn’t just help his friends, he helps everyone. How is living on his own gonna change that?

He can still help others, just not rely on them needing it

A change in perspective was what helped him age in the first place. Now he needs to continue that arc by seeing new places and meeting new people.

How would Steven fare any better with new people instead of the friends he knows? Moving to a new place you don’t know what your neighbors really are, when they need real help and when they don’t.
