If you ever thought that Marvel's new take on Conan the Barbarian was somewhat lacking then you should LOVE this.
A publisher named Ablaze Publishing (which I've never even heard of before now) is publishing a new Conan miniseries based directly on the works of Robert E. Howard with all of the original R-rated content intact.
I don't know how many issues this is going to run for, or if this publisher is going to be publishing more Conan stories after this or not, but apparently this was supposed to come out almost half a year ago and at one point was outright cancelled. But it's here now, and even includes the original prose story that it's adapted from reprinted in the back of the issue!
I'm also at a loss for how the fuck this publisher was even able to publish this when Marvel apparently has the Conan IP license? Maybe someone more familiar with how these things work can explain it in the thread.
wow my pure christian eyes weren't ready to see this
Asher Torres
They are totally gonna fuck.
Andrew Wilson
Ablaze has started publishing some Eurocomics in English. I think the Queen of the Black Coast is only going be two issues, there isn't a third one on Diamond. After this there's also a Red Nails adaption. Stores need to have their orders for that one in by Friday, so if you're interested tell them now. They were able to publish this because QotBC and many other Conan stories are public domain even though the character is trademarked. Legal battles from the estate that owns Conan is why it was delayed so much and why it's called "The Cimmerian." They can't put "Conan" anywhere on the cover for the same reasons DC had to use "Shazam" as a title for Captain Marvel.

yep lol

>r-rated content >still censoring nipples I fail to see how this is different than what Marvel or Dynamite are publishing. hell, even Dynamite publishes nude covers for Dejah and Ablaze can't even do that?
Red Nails is the last REH Conan story, correct? And then this is the first? I guess that's appropriate lol. Sounds awesome overall. And I looked into this a bit and apparently it from a series of (French?) adaptations of REH Conan stories? Are we going to get any more after these 2?
Nathan Cox
These two are all that Diamond has solicited at the moment. I'm guessing Ablaze is waiting to see how they do before committing to more. My store gave them to everyone who's pulling Marvel Conan. I can't say how many will get them and how many will kick it back, but if other stores had the same idea and it sells half what Conan the Barbarian does Ablaze will probably consider it a success.

Show a single page where anything is blurred out or "censored". "Not being literal hardcore porn" doesn't make something "censored". You can't "censor" something that was never in the original material to begin with.
Kevin Cruz
Well, I'm slightly disappointed. I thought she's look more psychotic, like in this adaptation.
my point is they are advertizing uncensored when censored just like how all the main american comic publishers censor stuff. So there is no point to this book, nothing done here couldn't be done at Marvel or Dynamite. Hell at least DC will allow actual adult content as long as it isn't DC
Jason Brown
Wait this actually came out?
Isaac Perry
That was last year, dude. That shit's resolved by now.
Robert Thomas
The page you quoted isn't even censored, dude.
Adam Sanchez
censoring is drawing boobs without nipples, it's exactly how publisher censor nudity. They never use black bars
Nathan Brooks
Hot as fuck.
Ayden Brown
No. No, that's not what "censorship" means. Nipples do not appear on the sides of tits, you literal neckbeard.
Jeremiah Harris
it is censorship when they go out of their way to not allow nudity or other content, which this comic is doing. This publisher is wanting to bring european comics to America, great? But this publishing the exact same shit as American comics so there is no point in this publisher.
Luis Edwards
Not the other user your arguing with, but maybe this will help show his point. Look at this pic. Its not censored either. Does that make it worth claiming its "uncensored"?
Similarly, this comic really doesnt contain anything worth censoring in the first place. This is all stuff that could have been published in the current Conan book.
