I'm probably in the minority but I hated the first part of the trailer for this movie. it was typical contrived bs. Katie took her laptop to dinner when she could've easily moved the video to her phone or plugged into to the TV. Her Dad just cancelling her flight to college go on a road trip there was irresponsible. What she's late? Katie going from "Can't wait to leave my family and go to college" to "I love my family because they're weird." sounded unfitting because the family isn't weird at all. It's just the Dad who feels like he's losing a connection with his family through technology. In fact the trailer focuses entirely on the daughter and father instead of the family as a whole leading me to believe that perhaps it would be better if it was just the Dad and Daughter going on the road trip.
Why don't the gay people just move away from the straight people? Like a nudist colony but for your type of people? Get your funds together, BUY someplace nice or San Fran and kick all the straight people out.

the movie was written from a boomer's perspective. of course they are gonna fill in some shit of things that didnt happen.

The people claiming this is a boomer commentary on zoomers have got it all wrong. The story is told from the lesbian daughter's perspective. This movie is a Millennial commentary on zoomers and boomers learning to set aside their generational differences and getting along.
That said, whoever created the daughter is clearly self inserting. This girl hasn't gone to college yet, but she's already 100% an art school student.
