I need a better rip of Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law I've only got these 480p mp4s and I'd really like to move up to mkv.

Aren't mkv and mp4 both containers for H.264? Wouldn't that mean you can pass one to the other without reencoding?
(not my upload, legitimately curious)
Eli Powell
Seconding this.

>all these requests That's why we don't have these threads any more. Actual cancer doesn't spread this quickly.
Sebastian Cox
>without reencoding I'm not too into the technical side myself, but the mere notion that you can just rename an mkv to mp4 and then it magically works and becomes half the size sounds preposterous.
>any more >last thread was ~1 month ago 0/10 Every thread several anons say mega threads be several months apart, yet here we are again.
- Amazon is superior if you're able to get hold of it, in every way for almost ever series. iTunes is AWFUL for the vast majority of things.
John Reed
askubuntu.com/a/396906 You can't just rename the files, but the actual video data doesn't need to be reencoded when swapping the container format. If it's half the size of the original then it's gotta be a lossy reencode, and the poster can burn in hell
Joshua Green
iT00NZ also rips from iTunes and their rips are generally worse than YP's because they're 100% raw and unotuched in all cases, whereas YP actually fixes files when iTunes massively breaks something
Mason Price
Their episodes are fuckhuge, and I guess a lot of people don't think of it because reasons. I even used to get the "low quality" version there for other shows.

Jayden Allen
The paste usually gets reposted every thread. Did you even look in the Tangled thread that's up right now?
If you're interested in the technical side of things, see pic related. It goes into detail to an extent. It's from the guidance on the site where people who rip series from Amazon/iTunes typically post them first, and they spread to other sites from there.
Sorry, 480p is the best I could find for My Life as a Teenage Robot but I'll try to get higher quality out later. Does anyone know where I could download Motorcity from 2012? I've been looking forever. They have it on Itunes but I don't know how to rip from there. Also if anyone knows where to find the second 20 episodes of season one of Summer Camp Island without a cartoon network logo please respond lol.
Do you have any idea if this is in HD? I don't have any web-dl version but here is a 4GB remux rip from the WAC widescreen DVD: mega.nz/#F!ySgxjCrY!OOFRZ4QanoPu3lxZZ0f-8Q
>renamed files and YIFI shit But why. Renaming is a giant middlefinger to the rippers and a waste of time. And standard naming conventions actually provides some useful info for those of us that cares about quality.
Of course, your average tastelet consumer today is an entertainment junkie that literally can't go take a shit without having his eyes firmly glued to his phone, and with tiny shitscreens you can't actually see how bad the YIFI releases are.
Looking at Prime Video they only have it in SD, so that DVD rip is so far the best it's gonna get unless some other service has a better version. You'd think it wouldn't be so hard to give it at least an HD streaming release considering it's a digital ink-and-paint film.
Nope, I usually only join those kind of threads when I have seen/read/know about the thing their discussing. Haven't watched the serious, so I don't really visit there often, though I have before. Didn't see any links to megas then.
So as this thread popped up and I have nothing that meaningful on my watch list, I decided to ask.
Either way, thanks. I'll look for it there.
Adam Green
I went and trawled the archive a little for SCI, but unless you've actually seen web-dl screenshots of those episodes, I kind of doubt they exist. There's only TV rips in the archive as far as I can tell.
If you're desperate and/or a tastelet that don't mind untagged reencodes, then you could probably request Motor City/SCI from that Cartoon Raws dude. I noticed he has a request button.
>I went and trawled the archive a little for SCI, but unless you've actually seen web-dl screenshots of those episodes, I kind of doubt they exist. There's only TV rips in the archive as far as I can tell.
Summer Camp Island web-dls exist on private trackers. I'm not at home this weekend otherwise I would upload them to mega and share a link.
Maybe knowing what the filenames are will help you find them. See pic related.
Yeah you go right ahead and download the it00nz version of horse show 9x13 Between Dark & Dawn. Enjoy the out of sync audio because itunes fucked it up.
Isaiah Edwards
Reminder to any rippers to not re-encode DVD material. There's nothing worse than a rare OOP DVD that sells for $100+ on the 2nd hand market to be only available online through crappy ancient XVID re-encodes with 96 kbps mp3 audio.
Jordan Baker
The ONLY rips of Kappa Mikey available online suffer from the exact issue you describe. It sucks.

Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law mega.nz/#F!YfxQDYRI!CBY8jmFjLfYh5nr_EhIp4g These are .avi files, don't know if they're any better or worse, or if they're what you already have.
>These are .avi files, don't know if they're any better or worse, or if they're what you already have. Container doesn't really matter, instead move your mouse over one of the video files and MEGA will show you the file size and what codec it uses. Not the requester, but it looks like those encodes are XVID which means they're really dated and degraded from the source. Also the thumbnails show some blended frames which usually means it has been poorly deinterlaced. (downloaded an episode to check, and it has)
Here are my fucking standards: >In English, and synced >In Color, if possible >Not a pixelated mess Something like this "non-deinterlaced" thing here doesn't bother me unless it's happening constantly, like when you put on sport mode on a modern tv. And don't give me that "you didn't notice, but your brain did" garbage. I think it's only ever really important if the movie/show has extremely fluid animation that would make it terrible without being properly done, like Thief and the Cobbler. I also don't see much point in upgrading files unless they really do look that bad on every frame, mainly because the only time I encountered two files of differing quality at once was for Ego Trip, where one version was part of the complete series mega, and the other was by itself. I don't remember, but I think the one by itself was actually worse quality. Color bleed, bright blacks, slight desync to audio. If I hadn't found the other at the same time, I probably would've stuck with that one.
Jackson Hill
Wow! Thanks user. I was looking for this MEGA for awhile now.
Personally I don't think it's too bad on Harvey Birdman since that show has very limited animation, but there are many TV shows with animation fluid enough that it would be really distracting.
It's also a really frustrating problem that can be easily avoided at the re-encoding stage. At least with an untouched rip that's still interlaced you can let your player handle it, a blended video however is fucked permanently.
Adam Jenkins
Thanks for Barnyard and Flapjack but I really wish I got Sanjay with it.

Well, waaaaay back in ancient times [the 1970s] it looked for a moment that the USA would convert to metric and a network created mini-episodes of super-heroes who taught children about Liters, meters, Celsius , and other good things.

Anybody have Wander over Yonder, particularly season 2 with best girl: Lord Dominator?
I have the disc, but it will probably lock my drive out of MakeMKV if I try to rip it. I really need to get one of those drives supported by LibreDrive. Can confirm the video quality is stellar though, much like the earlier Popeye BDs.
Blu-ray has AACS copy protection which gets updated every so often on new BD releases. v72 revokes the key used by MakeMKV. Inserting a disc with this newer AACS version will update the revocation table in the firmware and the drive will block MakeMKV, also making it unable to rip older discs until MakeMKV updates the key it uses. LibreDrive is altered firmware which will disable these anti-user features and allows it to rip newer discs.

Apparently Disney+ has the film in a brand new 4K restoration that brings the Amazon transfer to shame. I certainly hope someone would post a DL to that.
Basically put. Of all of the 60’s-80’s xerography era Disney films, 101 Dalmatians, The Rescuers, The Fox and the Hound, The Black Cauldron, and The Great Mouse Detective actually had pretty good remasters since they weren’t hit with the DVNR stick that badly at all and actually preserve a good amount of grain. Little Mermaid had had it’s ups and downs though.
Jace Wright
>Am I blind or are is yay really so ass backwards that I actually have to grab each episode individually? If you install DownThemAll or something, you can just right-click on the page and choose to download all direct links to mkv files.
I didn't say it was bad, jackass, you just don't need crazy res/bloated filesizes cus unless you go to 480, you aren't missing any details like skin pores and shit you would see in live action. 720 is more than fine for flash shows.

That's weird because I was able to rip the whole disc with makeMKV.

If you're going to 64 links, then at least do it fully instead of partially. The only thing partial scrambling does is making using the link more cumbersome to use. JD2 can decode, but only if it's the entire link that's scrambled.

They're all MPEG2 with AC3 audio which might mean a straight DVD rip with no re-encoding, but they do have Russian audio tracks which usually means they did some fuckery to it. Either way it's a PAL rip so it's played back at 104% speed.
I'm fairly certain Molassy was 480p and not dualaudio, so that seems to be a different rip. Does it have weird interlacing around the mouth areas frequently? I'm considering archiving it.
It's still interlaced, which I assume was the way the DVDs had it. You could probably let your media player handle it. Russian rips can be pretty dicey though, from what I understand they like converting NTSC to PAL. If the video looks like this and is progressive that means the encoder blended the frames and it's beyond repair.
Euro masterrace here, I'm using a PAL TV as monitor so that shouldn't be an issue.
Now that you mention it, I think Molassy mentioned something about the (euro?) DVDs being shitty stamps instead of proper prints. That could very well be the same issue with the ruski DVDs.

Unfortunately not. But this is pretty much the best I could find online. But even this was a huge pain to find and took me several days to download.
Taken straight from the DVD. The first 5 cartoons are fine and in the original aspect ratio, but unfortunately WB cropped the rest to widescreen. They got a lot of shit for that, and thankfully they stopped cropping their old cartoons after this and LTSS Daffy Duck. The affected cartoons are available in their original AR through streaming, but I've not been able to find a good download for them yet.
Pardon for asking but was it the same with DVDs? If so how long did it take for it to be cracked?
Nathaniel Thompson
Wash that lipstick off your hand and go sit in your shame corner.
Austin Hill
DVDs have CSS which was completely cracked almost immediately, and that copy protection could not be updated. A lot of lobbying by studios went on for a more robust protection scheme for Blu-ray until it got released.
Oliver Diaz
I see. It sucks though, do you ever think that it will be as easy to rip them?
Oliver Ross
It is still easy to rip BDs with MakeMKV as long as your blu-ray isn't too new.(anything from before last October should work fine) If you have the right BD drive (most LG models for example)newer stuff should go without a problem unless it has scrambled playlists.(people usually post solutions to those on MakeMKV's forums)
Jace Jenkins
What went down in October? I have the ASUS BW-16D1HT and it has worked great with MKV so far.
That drive is listed as LibreDrive compatible so any new disc would probably be fine on your end, MakeMKV uses it automatically and circumvents the key revocation DRM. Just never update your drive. If you want to make sure check what the program says about LibreDrive on startup. Some other drives like Pioneer models are not compatible yet and get locked out if you insert a disc with AACS v72 or newer.

Weird how it doesn't work on a next gen system >using inferior technology Meh, if it's convenient enough I don't really care about it being inferior. The fact that the console even plays media files off a storage device makes it good enough for me, even if it can't play h265. It's worked pretty fine for me so far, mostly because most of the stuff I watch are pre-2010s stuff and not in HD, Drawn Together was literally the only show I tried that wouldn't work on the system. I could just play it off my computer, but I just prefer watching stuff on the TV, y'know?
