What set up do you have?
I've seen some good performances with some similar music and some bad ones. It's hard to get right.

I know how to do that actually. I thought you meant using some midi interface or something to control volume automation.

I've played with a lot of different set ups, these days I tend to keep it simple.
Ableton - 2 Midi controllers - my soundcard - mic - guitar+ pedals - Virus Ti Desktop
I use 2 old BCR midi controllers to launch clips, modulate and stuff like that. Virus is my main lead synth instrument, use it a lot for basslines too.
