Very collectable, OP. The outside detailing is exquisite. I've heard the french mechanisms of this era gave some trouble, however. Is your still functioning correctly?
Damn, how much do you think that would go for on auction?
Holy Shit do you own one of these? I have only heard of them, never even seen a real pic of one. Where the fuck did you find that.
My best one is a 1954 Dillon-Press gold edition in almost mint shape.
Not to offend, but I believe you've mistaken that with the Palais Longchamp. They're quite similar in outer mechanics but the buxtrom assembly is a little darker
Interesting read on the history of fingerboxs cromwell-intl.com
An antiques auction could see it go for at least $30k in my opinion if the paperwork is in order
Yes the French were known for using low force tungsten springs so their fingerboxes are obviously not for competition. Just makes them more collectable
Can someone give me a rundown on fingerbox culture?
Pretentious shit. You're like those faggots who order Patron and think it's fancy.
Expensive != Tasteful
Sage.
Oh Shit I see what you are saying. But I thought the Longchamps had a more fluid looking design. I think OP is correct the picture is a 26MV.
I would hit my grandmother in the face with a shovel for a MV from 22 to about 35. They never made them better. Fuck the electronic shit in the new ones.
See
Had this for a while
Gentlemen, as a proud owner of an original Briggs and Stratton 1804 model, with rosewood and teak inlays, i say to you , get on my level faggots.

It's definitely niche. I don't think I've ever imagined meeting such a diverse and welcoming community. People that I would have never expected to be boxers. It's obscure, elegant and quite the experience to be a part of this culture. Collecting, fingering, sharing, trading discussing the history and craftsmanship of the most rare boxes. It's thrilling.
30,000 if one ever came up for auction. Never heard of one being sold.
What’s a fingerbox?
What the fuck is a fingerbox
Hey that looks alot like my 1954 Dillion - Press gold edition, but not exactly.
Do you have any information on it. It has to be a Dillion-Press at least.
Why are you all obsessed over old ass wooden fingerboxes? Its 2020 ffs.
>tungsten springs
>1926
Marseilles used steel springs until 1942 when they switched over to the tungsten because they needed steel for the war. Hate to tell you this user but that's a replica.
Do your own research you lazy fuck. I posted a link earlier.
cromwell-intl.com
If you dont know, then you have no place in a fingerbox thread.
>a plastic fingerbox
holy pleb
go on play with this one
Read the damn thread before posting. Some user already posted a link,
Very similar. its the gold hellraiser
Oh that's cute, you just started.
Go upstairs and ask your dad to see his box and maybe you will start to understand why we all prefer the older wooden models.
Or go to one of the many fingerbox meets (they are literately everywhere) and learn why figerboxs are the absolute coolest and most fun things ever.
Zoomer pls go
100% agree. I think the turning point was the 1986 H. Wuxhain. Just the prime example of mass production. No blending at all and the NFFBE went so far as to not only refuse accreditation but put out a statement basically calling it an abomination.
How did you find one of those...
I am jelly
It works better and smoother than the wooden ones and they are less prone to mold and water damage. What's wrong with that?
Thanks man that makes sense. It is beautiful. Enjoy it and keep it safe.
urrrrrrrr whats a fingerbox
fuck off with this shit meme already
Holy. Shit.
How did you find one?
what the fuck is going on with those fingerboxes ? its autism like fidget spinners but older ?
What doe a fingerbox do?
Man of taste. Fuck those overdone French boxes.
Found the jelly buthurt faggot who never had one growing up because his father wouldn't pay any attention to him .
I am old enough to remember when that came out. I completely forgot about that till you reminded me.
Fingerboxs are SOOO FUCKING interesting!!!!!!
Exactly, British craftsmanship at its finest.
>And yes, that is a 1926 Marseilles Voulge
it's a render of one faggot, not a single one has been recovered in that quality.
Clive Barker apparently did not visualize his puzzle-boxes in Hellraiser as looking like this. Saw an interview with him, and the fingerbox questions made it obvious it was someone in the movie's production that decided to make them look like fingerboxes.
I'll admit the cheap ones are shit, but there are some high end plastic boxes on the market that give the newer wood ones a run for their money imo, and at a fraction of the cost. My Biltmore XQJ-81 easily smokes the Bettendorf Redhood in a head to head mashup, and it only cost me $500 vs $900 for the Bettendorf.
My bad on missing the link at first. It was a neat read, but I'm still confused as to the appeal (all that's coming up on Google is the "cheap" fingerbox). Do you have to feel one to understand? Does it pass the time, or is it just a collector's thing?
These threads died for a reason. This meme has never been funny and never will be.
Why don't you just hit up amazon and get one of those shitty new boxes and see what it's all about?
see
eh, there is nothing like the wood. in my opinion the polycarb is too smooth, even with the factory roughing options.
I call bullshit, the 1926 Voulge is the Stradivarius of fingerboxes, you can't find one in such great condition.a well made replica, yes...
Think of it as visual/tactile art.
>$500
and all the soul
Its obviously a museum piece he just got a picture of off the internet
90% of posters ITT are noboxes
I mean boxes aren't really supposed to be funny user.
whats this used for? is this a puzzle
pre-1979 wood is definitely the way to go, but most of the newer wood boxes are mass-produced in China and most of the internal parts are cheap alloy. I can understand the smoothness being an issue though; a lot of people have trouble getting used to it. I've seen some guys experimenting with custom sandpaper grips around the fingerholes, that might give you more of the texture you're looking for.
I find the entire fingerbox experience is greatly enhanced by the insertion of an angry cat or small coral snake prior to use, but that's just me. Whatever works for you.
How long do the batteries usually last on these? Anyone ever use one competitively either? Prob not this kiddy kind but a fully functional electronic.
Timestamp or is not yours, larping faggot
