Doesn't Whitehead have a Twitter or something? He must've let some info slip. A sequel is probably in the works and just isn't ready yet. Especially if they aren't gonna be reusing levels like in mania 1, it'll probably take a while to hand craft all those routes and make sure everything works perfectly.
God DAMN do I hope it has lock-in technology and can combine with mania 1 for the ultimate Sonic game, that'd be sick as fuck. But for that to go smoothly they'll have to get the sequel out this console generation
