Pokemon is less good than most other games that share its concept.
unironically making a /mon/ game with the boys, expect a release in october
Play Jade cocoon 1 and 2. It’s personally my favourite set of games in this genre along with Azure Dreams, it’s a bit more of a rouge lite but it still has monster collecting
Is there anything you want us about it? Such as is it going to be a standard jrpg or Tamagotchi sort of thing, or if it's October release means it will be a Halloween game?
>Jade cocoon 1 and 2
I love the new battle system in 2, but I hate how they dropped the fusion/growth system from the original game in exchange for generic Pokemon-like evolution lines with the "fusions" essentially just becoming TMs.
I prefer the first game in almost every regard. The battles in 2 just drag on and on, it was also stripped a lot of the charm of that the first game had. I’d like remakes/remasters/ports of these games to modern platforms, although I’m not sure who owns the rights to the series and genki hasn’t existed for awhile
update the pastebin, bunch of games have PC releases now.
I didn't make the Pastebin, I just bookmarked it. I can't change shit, sorry. Do you mind still informing me what games got a pc release though?
Are Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy the only IPs to make a pokemon spinoff? You'd think it be more commonplace since most video game monsters are designed to be marketable.
Ni No Kuni and Digimon Cyber Sleuth have Switch/Steam versions now
I think everyone already knows about cyber sleuth, but thanks for telling me about NI No Kuni. I'm a step closer to finally getting around playing it.
fossil fighters is kino as fuck
Game full of ugly/unappealing monsters?
Intentionally or unintentionally?
Does it matter?
Siralim chad reporting in
Who’s looking forward to Siralim Ultimate?
Will Yo-kai Watch ever get unfucked in the west?
Ulgy and unappealing are subjective terms, but since you don't care Yo-Kai Watch and Tem-Tem fit the bill. If you're going to actually play something I'd say play Yo-Kai Watch because it's not 100% bad designs and easier to pirate.
Glad next order went on sale, having a lot of fun with it
Maybe when 4 comes overseas and/or Level 5 gets a better translation team.
I want Spectrobes to come back.
cool?
I would agree. Or at least many mon games have an aspect that's superior to pokemon's.
This is an underrated series if it counts as one of these games. You shouldn't play it though, it's dangerous.
Why the question mark?
Why don't more of these games have proper boss battles?
What mon games do you want to play but can't because they're stuck in japan?
More games should give their monsters weird Backstories.
Y'know Digimon has a lot of spinoff potential. Almost every genre has a few digimon that would fit the roles it needs perfectly. Not to mention the Digital World can hold every location you could use.
any recommendations for a /mon/ virgin? I've been craving a better pokemon but I wasnt sure there were anything but shitty clones out there. what's a good start for the uninitiated?
what qualities are you looking for exactly? Do you want something with more in-depth raising? Play Monster Rancher. Do you want something that's more childish and stupid? Yo-Kai Watch is your game. Do you like Dragon Quest? There's a spinoff that's exactly about that.
