The visuals and physics from Codename 47 to Blood Money have just aged badly but that doesn’t make them bad games, they’re just old. Absolution has no excuse as it isn’t a traditional Hitman experience, so most fans hate it. Everyone else sees it as okay. 2016 is just an unpolished, smaller version of 2018.

Hitman toes the perfect line between not being "serious bald dude gun game" but also not being "randumb Reddit hijinks" either and in doing so gets the appeal that both of those are going for without having any of their problems
It's worth applauding for that alone even if you don't look at the gameplay at all

I just hate how it feels like an expansion pack for the first game than being a real sequel.

Also, them not having access to Square Enix CGI farms means the cutscenes are largely stills.

Everything about it just feels half assed. Hopefully the third game is a real sequel

The magic is showing something ridiculous and playing it completely straight, like 47 dressed up as a sushi chef but still acting like his regular autistic self and having the bad guy be so oblivious to him that he rants his entire secret plot in front of him
And of course nobody intended that to look ridiculous, it just does. Same way Kojima never expects anyone to quote his serious dramatic dialogue for laughs.

Its a solid 7/10. The one thing I hate is the random enforcers being able to see through your Top disguise. Like why the fuck is someone in the beginning of the level able to tell im not who I am when I am wearing the top disguise

codename 47 is legitimately bad. it was overambitious for the time but in retrospect its just bad and has no redeeming qualities when compared to literally any other hitman released since.
