Combat

Can you repeat the question?

No.

Final Fantasy had the iconic turn based combat with everyone getting in line and the FF music and the victory dances and shiet.

This is a shitt hack and slash. THIS IS SHIT. I don't want to play Kingdom Hearts, or kingom of amaleur, or bound by flame, or dark souls, OR ALL THE OTHER GAMES WITH THAT SHITTY HACK AND SLASH SYSTEM.

I wanted the good ol' final fantasy, but thanks to retards that want all games to be the same I can't have anything nice.

Why do you guys hate variety so much? Why do you want all games to have the same gameplay?

Faggots bitched so hard that they were forced to switch the combat from turn based to automatic party battles.

>This is a shitt hack and slash.
t. hasn't played the game

ATB isn't turn based

>thanks to retards that want all games to be the same I can't have [turn based RPG combat]
I hear you user, it really sucks that there are no alternative JRPGs that have turn based combat.

You try to play this like a hack and slash, you're not getting far except on the weakest of shit. Even goddamn doomrats will rape you.

When it works it's godly. When the camera and shit starts acting up I wanna break the disc

I have, it's attack, run, attack, run, oh no, i'm low health, I'll run in circles until heal is done, good, now attack, run, attack, run.

It's fucking shit and I can't understand you people like having that same combat in all games.

better than 15 but not as good as xenoblade when it comes to an active system.

>I have, it's attack, run, attack, run, oh no, i'm low health, I'll run in circles until heal is done, good, now attack, run, attack, run.
This just proves you didnt play the game, and if you did, you played it on easy. Stop talking about a game you cant play because you're too shit.

>run in circles until heal is done

holy dogshit you're doing it wrong

YOU ARE NOT THE SOLDIER OF ME NOOOOOW

Passable combat.

Still better than XV's Hold O "combat"

So far, I'd rank the combat third under 13 and 10. It's far better than the PS1 games.

>under 13

Die.

It's not, basic attacks do next to no damage and exist to fill stagger meters and build ATB. The full square combo witj cloud does like 200 damage at the start of the game while a single braver does triple that. Also you can't move while using an item or spell and they cost ATB.

It's not a super complicated system but it's got enough gimmicks to keep combat fun. Cloud's got the punisher/counter mode, Tifa uses ATB to charge up and make her a stagger beast then she can do 3 triangle attacls for insane damage, and Barrett and Aeris get to be long range snipers

13 has the best combat in the series retard. Try to actually play the series.

I don’t understand why everything does like all of your health, even when you fucking block

yes way better than menuclick garbage

>filtered

What would you say the main different is between remake's and XV's combat

>Why do you want all games to have the same gameplay?
>this was said unironically by someone about rpgs
this is why i hate this board

XV is mashy and doesn't really punish you much because you have free healing time any time. VIIR requires you to build up ATB to cast magic, skills or even use items, so if you take the nasty hits, you still have to fight decently to get the heals out before you go down, and even then only once per ATB bar, so you can't even cap everyone off right away without the right spells/items if more than one character is hurting.

XV doesn't feel like you're actually doing anything because it's so slow and unresponsive, and the healing combined with that makes the game feel like watching the horse auto-walk in Red Dead 2

VIIR isn't action-game responsive but it's way more responsive and reactive than XV, and there's enough strategy in swapping characters and using abilities/spells and going for stagger that the game usually doesn't feel like you're on autopilot

>What would you say the main different is between remake's and XV's combat

Remake's combat doesn't have:
The 10 second bleedout timer when you get to 0 HP. In Remake, when you get to 0 HP you are KO'd.
Magic, while being OP, can not be spammed all the time thanks to ATB
Items can not be spammed all the time thanks to ATB
Every character feeling different and unique

Bad everything else.

When does it get better though? So far, all I’ve been doing is mashing attack and then using my special. And there’s no real defensive option either. Is there anything you can do besides tanking shots until you get close enough to button mashing again?

You have actual skills in FF7R, but you still really just end up mashing Square and then use two skills in a row so you can go back to mashing Square. And use magic whenever you need to.

not 'good' combat.
can be fun combat but it's and incredibly sloppy system. you'll just mess aroudn with but lacks the good design for anyone to really get invested.
you can get interrupted during your long casting animation and lose your ATB without getting a magic cast. this would be fine if you could avoid taking damage but the game gives you no tools to actually do that.
All sorts of oversights like that, the unreliable auto air moves with no jump button despite the fuck there are air enemies every where.
just make this a mindless system to be play'd and forgotten.
Fun combat, not good combat. like dynasty warriors.

>And there’s no real defensive option either. Is there anything you can do besides tanking shots until you get close enough to button mashing again?
Guarding and rolling?

You can actually experiment and combo in XV. You can feel like a god who wipes out enemies without ever being hit. 7 feels unnecessarily grindy.

You know their is a counter right?

I meant to take no damage. And rolling and guarding across the map still feels like a chore after a while.

As a quick question, how many scenes in this game are blocked for capture if I were to stream directly from the PS4? I'm borrowing a family member's copy and a friend of mine wants to see the game without buying it since he took the reasonably cautious route.

Guard is actually extremely useful. The duel with Roche pretty much relies on that and countering. I believe there are materia that improve the dodge as well.

For ranged?

So this guy in the right is a faggot? This game has gay propaganda?

>You can actually experiment and combo in XV.

except the game is so casual you don't need to.

I beat the entire game using only the starting weapon, it's upgrades, and investing fuckall into the combat skill tree for Noctis.

Scenes at Shinra HQ and beyond

the reason I wanted to play this instead of FF7 was because waiting for your ATB gauge to fill and sitting there doing nothing sucked. I hate turn based combat it's so slow and uninvolved.
But they fucked up FF7R by making it not FF7 but some shitty cancerous fanfic original by nomura.

why is is a good combat?
What makes it a good combat?

Attached: 4141500.jpg (355x265, 28.76K)

Makes me wonder why they bother when the big people that rake in hundreds of thousands or even millions of views use capture cards to bypass this shit anyway.

I can beat FF7 Re on easy mode as well. Doesn’t mean that’s how I’m going to judge it.

Also, I feel like the basic attacks are so weak and inconsequential, I’m better off just playing it in classic mode.

Oh misread thought you meant defensive options in general.

>I can beat FF7 Re on easy mode as well.

I beat it on Normal difficulty.

So wait.
Is $60 for the initial game which is the Midgar section, then 4-12 months from now a free to $40 DLC update for the next 2-4 parts?

Or is it $60 for Midgar, then another $60 for the next, another $60 for the next, and another $60 for the next?

Will they even connect? Be it your choices, levels, and inventory?

If they're all gonna be separate, why didn't they call it Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 1?

Attached: 51ff9637d6c429fd82b632738ec9ec52.png (854x480, 440.94K)

The game is ATB in its purest definition. It's just 10x faster than the original ATB. If you try to play it like kingdom hearts, you won't even make it past Air Buster. 90% of the gameplay comes down to micromanaging your team just like any other turn-based system, which becomes more complex as you progress.

Why did they put XV's summoning system in this game?

It doesn't feel like XV's summoning system since in that game the summons are an animation.

This feels more like Type 0's summons

It's both hilarious and kind of sad how traumatized everyone is by XV that the immediate comparisons are always to it.

I had fears about it not being turn based but it’s actually really fun. All my fears melted away actually playing it. It curb stomps FFXV

It’s like a more fast-paced version of 12

I just made it to the slums and Tifa is giving me the tour. So far I love the game. Areas look great. Combat is fun.
Only two minor gripes. The music, while not bad, sounds too much like Kingdom Hearts music.
The other is Tifas' mannerisms. She was always a tough woman, but not she moves and acts like a Japanese high school girl.
>but it's a Japanese game
I know. I just feels jarring. Was she like that in the movie or any other game? It feels like they changed her to make more sales. Not a deal breaker, but it's just so, there.

Even as an action game FF7R is better, and FF7R isn’t an action game

Why don’t you just go play classic ff7 then? Is somebody forcing you to play this game?

Personally i think they did a good job whit the combat.
It feels like the evolution of FFXII combat whit a bit of FFXV.
You have to actively switch characters to maximize performance in combat.
And its not a straight up action game so not all damage can be avoided so managing healing and buffs is also important.
Unlike FFXV which was basically just a clusterfuck and it didn't have any real CD so you could just spam heeling items it was impossible to lose in that game as long as you had items.
