I legitimately don't like this game, I'm not trying to force anything. RDR1 is one of my favorite games of all time, I've beaten it to 100% a couple times and will probably replay it again after I finish slogging through RDR2. but I just don't get the same RDR1 feeling in this one. everything is too scripted and there's no incentive to do any side activities at all. what's your reward for it, after all? carrying more items? you can already carry more than you need. some shitty purple outfit? there's already plenty of them in the game. get more money? haha what for?
the part of the game I truly enjoyed was chapter 2, where you're always just barely scraping by and you need to make every dollar count to keep the camp afloat; those big $200 dollar bounties feel like a challenge to pay off rather than a drop in the bucket.
if they would've just kept it like that for the majority of the game, then I would enjoy it much much more. instead you get showered with money after your first big job and then you have to wonder why Dutch keeps pretending like everyone's flat broke.

Because Dutch wants something that will set them up for life, and they are like 20 people.

I did sidequests because Arthur isn't an asshole and that's what he would like me to do. Not because of the prize, couldn't care less about what I get out of it.

Started a new game 2-3 times but always end up quitting around the cuba island part, game gets super depressing with the gang starting to split up.

I bought it at release on PC and only played barely 15 hours so far, I'm still in chapter 3.
it looks great, but it doesnt feel good to play.
the UI is cumbersome, health and energy are never a problem, I never died despite not really paying attention, all I'm using are items to replenish dead eye core, which drains way too fast, its just not fun.
whatever I do feels like I'm doing it wrong.
everytime I try going for a hunt to complete challenges and the like it fails, I use arrows, or the appropriate guns after looking the encyclopedia and never manage to get perfect pelt. I got one once, and dont know how I did it.
then I get bored after only finding rabbits or squirrels for 10 mins straight.
I 100% RDR and undead nightmare on 360 multiple times, I just loved it.
I just cant get into 2 for various reasons its a shame.
