>Assets largely seem to be a match for the 2007 version. But the new lighting/shaders make them look better.
>Nanosuit behaves like the 2011 version. Speed mode is basically sprinting instead of a separate suit mode. There is a minor UI difference in that the suit mode icon does not turn yellow when changing like it does on other versions.
>cloaking effect is similar to the 2011 version. Gun brightens before gaining a visible hexagonal pattern. In 2007 version, the gun simply turns transparent with some purple tinge in places.
>Scar model is different to both 2007 and 2011. It is missing the green dots on the back, and the two small hoops embedded on the back of the gun (they kinda look like you'd thread a strap through them) are gone.
>Map/radar has North, South, East, West like the 2011 version instead of having directions like North-East like the 2007 version.
>Light shaft effects from the PC version seem to be missing, or else they've been obliterated by youtube compression.
>Has a depth and warmth to that the 2007 engine couldn't deliver since it can't really do indirect lighting.) The 2011 version had a single bounce solution, which looked nice for interiors, but they can do way better now.
>Like the 2011 version, the HUD has been moved away from the edges of the screen.
>A lot of screen tearing for some reason. Maybe running unoptimized on a console?

Probably being a next gen launch title to show off the Zen CPU's
Why remake a tech demo?
it is better than most shooters nowadays
I don't know why ANYONE would look at this most recent video and think that it is representative of a remaster. It is the same exact game and engine that you can play right now from 2007. All they did was make a few color tweaks to the UI, something anyone can do. The rest of your points can't be proven. Besides, graphically it looks identical to what I get playing on all High with some slight console variable tweaks from Very High.
Now pic related, that is a new engine and shaders no fucking doubt about it. Part of me hopes it comes and is real, but the other part of me knows it'll be tied to fucking Origin most likely so who gives a fuck.
Because the company has been in deep shit for some time and a remaster is an easy way to make money.
Is this a troll post? That looks nothing like it’s been remastered or that is an official teaser.
That literally looks like the original. Is there a 4K video anywhere, I can't tell from this compressed to shit 720p webm.
Uh yeah, that doesn't really look good. I hope that's some mod/photoshop shit.
your pic looks like plasticy, shiny Pixar cartoon Half-Life Alyx liquid diarrhea. fucking Uncharted ptsd flashbacks where even cold hard rock looked like shiny toy plastic and vegetation looked like it was made out of play-doh
how in the ever living fuck can a 2007 game still look superior and more realistic than a 2020 one?
what the fuck went so terribly, horribly wrong with game developers over the years?
Running a shittily coded game shouldn't a good benchmark for a CPU.
How is Crysis 2 and 3 past all the hans zimmerman bullshit cutscenes? I'm looking for a cool shooter
Oh look, it is another retard trying to fit in by making a green text lists and shitting on a game.
That is the original with the hd mod. Are you even trying or are you just pretending to be retarded?
2 is a bit of a slog. 3 was alright I think, but still not as good as 1, and really just play something else entirely. Heard Titanfall 2 is good.
I'm an idiot when it comes to Titanfall 2.
Anything else? Please I just want a good FPS game, indie or big budget, old or new
No it's most probably running on the newest CryEngine. They've been teasing a new Crysis for awhile now. At 0:07 the PC's username is Prophet and at 2:17 there is the OG Crysis island but with entirely new foliage and shaders
youtube.com
This was back in August and now they are even more teasers this week with the re-opened Crysis website along with updating the social media profile pictures to an updated nanosuit render
Turok 2.
How good is Hunt:showdown if you don't have friends? The weapons and voodoo look really cool
The entire showcase of the potential remaster looks like it had grease spilled all over it. It’s just like those shitty “8K” gameplays on YT where they made everything overly shiny and think it’s realistic.
Crisis looked amazing because it came out exclusively for PC and the other reason is because gaming has become more mainstream and (((profitable))) and developers have traded soul for shekels.
>That literally looks like the original.
It looks nothing like the original? Are you blind? I can't believe how many people have forgotten what the original Crysis actually looks like.
>The rest of your points can't be proven.
What points?
>Besides, graphically it looks identical to what I get playing on all High with some slight console variable tweaks from Very High.
No amount of tweaks will make PC Crysis not have a shit lighting model. There's a reason the console port of Crysis has better lighting.
>That is the original with the hd mod.
It has a completely new lighting model (global illumination is present, which the original couldn't do, and the console version did in a limited form). It has the nanosuit from the 2011 console version. The weapon model is new.
That was just an engine tech demo from August. Here's the artstation page. artstation.com
I find it genuinely hilarious how Crytek posted footage of Crysis with the evil streamlined nanosuit, and most Crysis fans insist it looks exactly like the original. Makes you wonder how many people actually cared about Speed Mode, and how many just bandwagon because it's easy shorthand for much deeper design problems in the Crysis sequels.
It's from Crytek's youtube channel snuck in at the end of their "Never Stop Achieving CRYENGINE Showcase 2020: Games of the Decade" video from March 24. youtu.be
The nanosuit render is an exact match for the PC version. I don't expect they'll change many assets for the remaster, except maybe ones that are glaringly shit like the magazine covers you find in huts and the like.
I don't think there's any chance of this being an April Fools joke. They simply chose to nuke the Crysis website on April Fools to gain attention and they'll replace the site with a new one when the announce their future plans for the series. They are recruiting for an unannounced AAA game, and according to the Yerlis, they own the Crysis IP completely.
Their "We Are Crytek" video puts a lot of emphasis on how they own their own IP and make games using it. youtube.com
Wait, they're remastering a game which they put on consoles using the second generation engine already?
I'd like a remaster for the sole purpose of running these games without a bunch of tweaks. They aren't even that old I don't understand why they're so broken.
>map only has 4 cardinals
Dropped.
The whole problem is that there's no definitive version of Crysis. The PC original is unstable, buggy, and the Steam version literally needs GOG executables to work for a lot of people. The console version has better lighting and shadowing, but it makes sacrifices in other area, and has its own bugs. To bring back Crysis, the best start is to make a new version combining the base PC version with the console version's improvements and then run the entire thing on a reasonably modern version of CryEngine. You get a game that looks better, plays better, and if they port it to PS4 and Switch AND release it on PC, they're reaching a wider market and hopefully building a wider audience for Crysis 4. Crysis is already backwards compatible on Xbox One, but a new version wouldn't hurt.
Same story with the original Far Cry. I'd love a new remaster which adds some of the improvements from the shitty 2004 console port like nerfed trigen, plus fixes for the AI, and general light handed improvements.
They'll ruin it somehow
They could start by making the AI not retarded.
You're getting Nanosuit 2.0, at least by default. I wouldn't be surprised if they offered an option to play with the classic nanosuit as a concession to fans, though.
The AI was great albeit retarded. Basically they were foolish but if you stood in the open for too long they were still capable of downing you quickly. Additionally the vehicles they use are massive threats. Very SOULFUL to watch them pee or trip over eachother.
this is a mistake
>this is a mistake
The whole reason the nanosuit got changed in the first place is that a lot of people found it too confusing. They'd be unwise to ignore that problem.
As for the AI, Crysis basically needs the AI to be more aggressive, take cover more, and work better as squads. We've got way more CPU power than we did in 2007, so I think a lot of those issues can be solved relatively easily.
You ever notice that basically all "Crysis totally doesn't look horrible" videos are all shot with the sun directly overhead? The shitty Blackfire mod the same thing, changing every map's time to day to glaring overhead sunlight. This serves to mask the lighting system limitations. Hell, Skyrim bullshots do the same thing. One of the problems with Crysis in general has always been that the fanbase has an unreasonable fondness for bullshots.
>posts the xbox version
fuck off, beautiful game even now
Honestly I wouldn't play it solo.
If however you can convince a friend to play it, I would recommend highly.
The console version has much nicer looking sand and snow, and I really hope that carries over to any remaster. The original's sand looks particularly bad. The console version has this lovely glistening effect where you can see the grains twinkling as you move around.
>literally only difference is bloom
user I think you're genuinely autistic, just saying.
At some point you're gonna have to cope with the fact the PC's version's indirect lighting is worse than Far Cry from 2004, namely because it's non-existent. "Realtime, all the time" was a good mantra but Far Cry could use prebaked radiosity to mimic sunlight entering through windows and the like. Crysis PC goes from "bright sunlight" to "absolutely nothing", and that's why the game looks so grey and flat outside of direct sunlight.
Don't make me laugh
The PC version is unnaturally dark because it doesn't support global illumination. the 360 version bounces light off the snow and uses it to illuminate the underside of the cliff. Also, have you ever tried to look at snow? It's fucking bright. It literally makes you go blind if you look at it long enough.
As for the sand, the sand textures were all replaced, and the sand uses a new shader which uses the grain map to mimic how real sand looks when light hits it, depending on how wet the sand is.
That's a fake picture, though. The final version doesn't look anything like that. Sometimes I've noticed is a lot of fanboyish Crysis PC fans refused to actually play Crytek UK's versions and they flat-out deny a lot of objectively true stuff like Crysis 2 being visually superior to Crysis 1. Also, you're not helping your case by posting pictures directly lit by sunlight.
>dat cryis theme music
Hearing it again feels good man.
youtu.be
I'll use one of my own caps then. Note that the console versions have much less foliage and absurd amounts of bloom as compensation.
>Nanosuit behaves like the 2011 version
fuck this console shit, I'm out
The top picture doesn't look like the actual 360 version. Probably a pre-release screen or something. Where is the vegetation? The actual version is full of grass and stuff like that.
youtu.be
Also, the bottom screen is blatantly a modded bullshit. The colour grading is completely wrong for PC Crysis, and the HUD being missing is automatically suspicious.
This
Once you got over the initial 'wow these levels are big and I can approach these outposts in multiple ways' it just devolved into the most boring shooter imaginable. Made worse when the aliens are introduced and it just becomes entirely linear.
Wouldn't waste my time with it again I swear people only play the Crysis games to take screen shots and make webms anyway, nobody is playing them for the actual gameplay.
Why would it behave differently? It is a remaster not a remake. What do consoles have to do with anything.
Does this mean I can run Crysis again? Last time I tried the optimization for old hardware meant it was still struggling even ten god damn years later.
So they just ported the cryengine 3 version to pc?
>the console versions have much less foliage
Of course they do. Physicalized objects were stripped back and the vegetation was pared back. What's interesting is that the new version of Crysis has the vegetation from the PC version, but maybe a bit further draw distance if you look along the clifftops.
>absurd amounts of bloom as compensation.
No, Crytek UK just loved bloom. Their next project, Homefront: The Revolution, is very similar. I think they were partially inspired by the interior/exterior bloom effects from Half-Life 2 that were used to hide loading areas.
you can make same argument about any video game that has some kind of technical advancement, Crysis was good and had very well put together gameplay that wasn't ruined by aliens like FarCry was.
No, it's a hybrid version. It has the PC original's vegetation layouts, but the nanosuit behavior from the console version (wouldn't rule out Classic/Modern suit options, though). The lighting is completely new. The Scar model is slightly different to all the other Scar models seen in the Crysis games.
The 2011 version of Crysis was a remake-slash-remaster-slash-port to 360/PS3 by Crytek UK. It has a number of visual improvements, but it also reworks the nanosuit to be more like Crysis 2. This is a contentious design change. It's super obvious in this webm because when he sprints, the suit changes to speed mode and drains energy. In the PC original, speed mode is a manually selected suit mode distinct from Armour Mode and Cloak Mode.
A remaster will likely have worse physics and interaction than the original
To this day, no game has topped Crysis 1 in pure physics
>Grass, leaves realistically affected by wind & force
>Every tree can be destroyed
>You can play around in the editor, change wind parameters, even spawn tornados
>Realistic fluid system
Literally all Crysis 1 needs is a proper 2020 standard texture overhaul and it would still be the best looking game out there
2 is great, turn off your brain and treat it like a spectacle shooter
3 is shit-tier
I have over 1000 hours in crysis 1 and will never touch the sequels because they're consolized garbage
Agreed
>that wasn't ruined by aliens like FarCry was.
did you read my post? Crysis is completely ruined once the aliens are introduced
Crysis 2011 had identical physics to 2007. All they changed was reducing the number of physicalized objects in the environment. This was on console hardware from 2005.
>Crysis is completely ruined once the aliens are introduced
No it isn't
The later half isn't as good as the first, but it's still a solid shooter
>3 is shit-tier
No it isn't. It has a kino OST, some really good sandbox level design, and while it isn't as tightly designed as Crysis 2 and fails to live up to Crysis 1, it is worth playing.
youtube.com
Shame the Nomad story DLC was cancelled because C3 sold so poorly.
Some parts of the game seem to be liw poly, other than that it looks perfectly fine, no need for a remaster. April fools joke?
Crysis 2 and 3 were major disappointments. They should of continued the story where it left off in 1 with Nomad, Psycho and the CIA woman going back to the Island.
>Every tree can be destroyed
not the big ones
>other than that it looks perfectly fine
No it does not. The console version of Crysis 1 shits all over the PC version in terms of lighting, shadow complexity, and shader work. I'm starting to wonder the if the Crysis fanbase has some kind of autistic baby duck syndrome going on with the PC version. It was really apparent right around the time they started pretending that Crysis 2 and then Crysis 3 weren't light years beyond it visually. When they started saying, "IT LOOKS JUST LIKE A MODERN GAME" years after that stopped being in any way true.
>I have over 1000 hours in crysis 1 and will never touch the sequels because they're consolized garbage
That addresses nothing he said
>They should of continued the story where it left off in 1 with Nomad, Psycho and the CIA woman going back to the Island.
If people had actually bought Crysis 3, they were going to do that with the Nomad DLC where Nomad and Prophet returned to the island.
