I'm cautiously optimistic for the next elder scrolls for one bad reason alone, when you've struck the bottom, you can only stay there or go up. I really want to believe that they're going to realize how dull they've made the experience and really try to make TES combat for once be interesting. As much as people shit on Morrowind, the change from roll based hit chance to always hitting when your weapon connects was kind of superficial. No matter what TES game, you're always just smacking/spelling/shooting your target to death. There's no localized damage or anything, no bonus damage for aiming for less protected parts with your sword, etc.

Pretty much why stealth is the only decent way to play Bethesda games. You get to experience more of the environmental story telling and the difficulty is in not getting caught rather than how hard you can click your mouse at something. I'm guess we're still 4 or so years out from release, but if we're still rocking Skyrim/Fallout 4 combat after all this time it's gonna be a shit show.

Basically they just need to make a good core game because it's been shown that people will just make mods for everything else they want anyway.
My ideal TES game would be one were me and 4-5 of my buddies could load up a game with a bunch of hard mode mods, like realistic weight limits, cold, heat and other weather effects, no fast travel, and all sorts of shit like that and be able to roll around an open world doing shit as a group, that would be a perfect TES to me

The problem with Skyrim combat is that there is no impact to most of the combat, fights take too fucking long to end sometimes
I'd appreciate it if they kept the combat but made melee and magic have more impact, even if enemies die in 2 hits at least make it so blocking (or if they could include parrying) becomes important, maybe knocking down enemies could also be implemented
The same goes for magic, make it have more impact and make it more expensive to use
They could also nerf the stealth archer build because it outshines everything else in the game
What i would also want is for them to get rid of crafting systems and to get rid of so many fucking weapon types with a million fucking pre-fixes. Have less weapons but have more unique ones, don't have players crafting their shit, have them buy their shit so gold has more value and it makes it rewarding when you find it on a dungeon
I dunno, i feel like they don't need to change the game that much in order to improve it, mods do this for Skyrim but i wish it was Bethesda doing it instead
