Hell fucking no.

Tall Tall Mountain

What the fuck is up with those textures? I don't remember it looking so low res that it may as well just be a single color

It's either BOB or WDW

""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""henryfags"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

the n64's blur masked the awful textures.

The best levels are the bowser levels

Bad screenshot from an emulator(likely with the wrong configuration), you can tell by the HUD.

nah, it's wet dry world. sorry.

DDD or BBB

no

the rainbow ride (??) level is absolutely bad__

Kino

These are the original textures of the game when the hardware is not applying the blur effect to hide the pixels.

People who turn off texture filtering for games designed around texture filtering are subhuman.

Tiny Huge Island, faggots

Thwomp's Fortress is good, too

Oh okay, thanks

For me, it's Tall, Tall Mountain.

The PU pannenkoek meme may be my favorite meme in the past decade. Right next to CWC.

It's genuinely interesting how Nintendo used the blur effect to their advantage.
The grass texture in Kokiri Forest in OoT also looks fucking disgusting if you look at it without the blur

When the fuck is some autist souce porting Mario 64 to the PSX? I'd love to see it running on that.

PSX couldn't handle Mario 64

No but it hands down has the best theme.

>8x8 textures
>b-but the n64 was a good console!!!!

it is a good console indeed

I see the filters meme went the complete opposite way

>game looks bad when you disable visual features the game was designed around
No shit.

One of the second floor paintings probably. They were all fun.

Yes
Feels like a debug level that they added lava to at the last minute. It's just a bunch of random platforms placed everywhere.

That's because it's a Volcanic skatepark

i love it.

what about the HUD?

SNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

i was kinda obsessed with jolly rogers bay as a kid. i used to have dreams that i would wake up and my bed was on the platform in pic related. the eel used to scare the shit out of my and in the dream i would be aware that it was lurking not far below me

did you dream of the foggy version and the cleared up version?

I like every level in the game, except for Rainbow Ride and Dire Dire Docks. Rainbow Ride has too much that's just doing nothing but waiting for the carpet to slowly make its way to its destination. Docks has too much pointless swimming, and without the comfy atmosphere of Jolly Roger Bay. The rest is all good to excellent.

>have you ever beaten the piano

His chad brother Luigi did

Thwomp's Fortress or nothing, maybe BOB or Bowser's levels

SUPER MARIO THAT HOE

That's my least favorite level.

I've always hated filtered textures, but jesus the N64 really had no other choice. These are so low res that the filter is an actual improvement.

The only other time i saw Yas Forums shit its pants for an entire week was with bowsette. I much preffer qpuposting

Get to it yourself, bro.

dire dire docks should be everyones lest favorite level.

Honestly when thinking about my favorites and least favorites, I kinda realized that the game actually got better as you went through. The first group of levels were my least favorite (still good) followed by the second, third, and then fourth with Tick Tock Clock and Rainbow Ride being absolute gems.

My favorites:
>Whomp's Fortress
>Bowser in the Fire Sea
>Snowman's Land
>Wet, Dry World
>Tiny, Huge Island
>Tick Tock Clock

I don't care much for that level either, but I like it better than Hazy Maze Cave.

>Wet, Dry World
>Tiny, Huge Island
>Tick Tock Clock
these sound incredibly dirty when taken out of context

But first

I love the aesthetic and music of the level but never found the stars to be particularly fun.

Courses 5-8 were all pretty cool and memorable as more exotic levels after some pretty standard-themed ones.

I'll have to agree, Dire Dire Docks is just really bland for a water level and the submarine setpiece can't even come back after the first star. I'd also agree with Rainbow Ride somewhat as it's perhaps too much of an abstract obstacle course like the Bowser levels. Still suits the pacing though.

Wet Dry World being the first course to see after DDD and grabbing the second key is somewhat offputting by just being another consecutive underwater level but it's not a bad one - just the placement and nobody has to do it right away anyway. Snowman's Land is surprisingly tame for being one of the later courses by just doing the snow level thing again.
