Why is Yas Forums hyped for this trash again?
Why is Yas Forums hyped for this trash again?
it looks cool
It's fun, why does it threaten you so much?
How do you know it's trash if you didn't play it?
No, Yas Forums is not.
Zenimax's faggots are just turbo-shilling it, again, and destroying any signs of criticism they come across with DMCA threats.
>He made another thread.
You just can't get over people being excited for something they think looks fun, can't you? This is pathetic.
Because I paid $120 for it and I’m going to feel like an idiot if it turns out to be shit
After playing 500+ video games throughout my whole life, you do develop a skill of sensing the direction to which a game's design is taken to, especially if there's hours worth of gameplay footage.
tl;dr: it's gonna be exactly the same shit as ZOOM 2016, with Super Mario -style crap + lootbox shit. Still no modding tools, so it will be obsolete overnight, and then Zenimax will start shiIIing the 3rd sequel.
>paying over 30 bucks for a video game
>ever
You are an idiot, and it is confirmed shit. Might just as well kill yourself while you can.
Npc fell fell for the memes
Its just another brand name from the past attached to some generic template of current year games
there is no lootbox in the game and any microtransaction user.
Oh right, sorry.
They're just "surprise mechanics".
We are not, and ForkKnife generation's claims do not count.
You would think that 10+ years of posting on this board would make you exhausted + bored of this shit
See, that is not a loot box or microtransaction, just normal rewards for level ups. That are just there. For free. With the game.
>niohshitters mad their game is about to be overshadowed and out praised
And yet, they really, really should not be. In a "DOOM" game of all things.
Yas Forums is not hyped for shit. The shills are though.
Why not? What's stopping people from ignoring a seemingly optional cosmetics that don't affect gameplay in any actual way?
True. But it is a free stuff to unlock, some cosmetics that are with the game and to get for just playing are still a heaven better than microtransactions skins.
what? us niohshitters don't expect either, nor do we care. we're just going to enjoy our game and some of us will enjoy Doom as well.
>Why not?
Because it's once again pointless pacing-ruining padding, that has no room in an IP like Doom.
If you cannot make the gameplay satisfying and engaging by default, just don't make the game at all.
Now please kill your bosses, your family, and yourself.
moving goalposts now huh
The game..is fun.
If it's not fun, and just Yas Forums aesthetic niche bullshit, then why bother?
>If you cannot make the gameplay satisfying and engaging by default, just don't make the game at all.
You think things would change for better if they removed it?
Shit looks like optional gimmick, yet you overblow it to being the point of the game.
>gameplay is quite engaging and satisfying on its own
>game also add some extra rewards
>the game is bad now because there are some extra rewards
What "goalposts"? It's a simple fact of life:
Doom is about satisfying killing of lots of things, in open-ended levels, while looking for loot and secret to help ya stay alive. NOT about grinding for RPG points to "level up", not about hookshot-platforming, and definitely not about cinematics and unlocking cosmetic.
>You think things would change for better if they removed it?
Yes, it would be a start.
It would make more people realize how shallow and fake the nu-ZOOM games are, and thus would finally start to demand games that are up to the standards that were set 30 years ago.
Make no mistake though: this shit is still one of the lesser issues in the Xbone-era Doom-wannabes.
because most of Yas Forums 24 and younger.
@498904035
What a goalpost moving fruit
>because most of Yas Forums 16 and younger.
FTFY.
This place's filled with fags born after 9/11
well then just ignore that progression bar, it doesn't affect gameplay
>definitely not about cinematics
They specifically turned ingame unskippable dialogue into cutscene just so you could press F to skip it. How is that a bad thing?
Then just play og doom while everyone else enjoys devs trying something new.
I mean ffs some of you people are bigger ludites than the amish
op isnt responding boys... i think we won this one.
I dunno but fuck video games. I hope coronachan kills enough retards that making brainless garbage like this no longer profitable.
>Doom is about
Who gives a shit? As long as it's first-person and about killing demons in the future it's Doom enough when stuff like Doom 3 exists. Sure, it's stupid to play with people's expectations like with Prey (2017) having zero to do with Prey (2006), but how would that make the game objectively worse from a game design standpoint? I literally don't understand how people like you are incapable of experiencing a game for what it is instead of bogging it down with expectations of what it is supposed to be. It leads to retarded arguments like "it's a good game, but it's a bad X game". Like fuck off man, if it's a good game it's a good game. I don't care if a new game has a completely different direction compared to the rest of the franchise.
No seriously, how is it being "not like the original Doom" valid criticism in terms of art design, story, weapon design, enemy design, level design, movement, mechanics, and so on?
Already preordered it for Doom 64. I'm going to have fun with this game and there's absolutely nothing you or anyone else can do about it. Seethe eternally.
cmon bruh it's not even build engine i aint playing this one it's not true doom
>As long as it's first-person and about killing demons in the future it's Doom enough when stuff like Doom 3 exists
D3 is literally a MUCH better Doom game than 2016 ever will be. And that's not a good thing exactly.
>how is it being "not like the original Doom" valid criticism
When the publishers and their moms keep using the "return to da roots!" meme as their #1 marketing campaign slogan, it becomes quite crucial part of the game's identity.
Not to mention, if you cannot stick true to the roots then, why even call it "Doom"?? Just make a NEW IP, and claim it's "inspired by Doom", or some shit.
OH WAIT, but then they couldn't use the cheap nostalgia-bait and cultural importance of the IP to shiII the shit to gullible fucks.
>preordered it for Doom 64
You can play that shit for free, right now,
>When the publishers and their moms keep using the "return to da roots!" meme as their #1 marketing campaign slogan, it becomes quite crucial part of the game's identity.
How has this anything to do with the objective quality of the game
>You can play that shit for free
Except for the new chapter, which Kaiser made.
this gotta be bait, no man can be this stupid
>How has this anything to do with the objective quality of the game
The objective quality of Zenimax-Dooms is already confirmed to be pure, disposable garbage.
Meanwhile, original Dooms from early 90s are still highly acclaimed, timeless, engaging and satisfying first person SHOOTER games, the likes of which this industry has not seen in decades.
Please kill yourself, and if you fail at it, then try to explain what exactly is "bait" in the post?
The fact that I don't suck Zenimax's rotten cock and enjoy this dumbed down Hard Reset clone?
>then try to explain what exactly is "bait" in the post?
>D3 is literally a MUCH better Doom game than 2016 ever will be.
>The objective quality of Zenimax-Dooms is already confirmed to be pure, disposable garbage.
For reasons you have yet to actual state
You getting bamboozled by the marketing and promptly getting all butthurt over it has nothing to do with the objective quality of the games
>Seethe eternally
har har
>again
>It leads to retarded arguments like "it's a good game, but it's a bad X game". Like fuck off man, if it's a good game it's a good game.
franchises create an identity through repeated use of various mechanics among other more obvious things (aesthetic, art and so on). a studio can decide the game needs to change direction and forsake many of those things that created the franchise's identity. as you said, it can still be a good game in its own right, but the idea of it being a bad X game isn't a comment on that, it's that it fails to live up to the identity that the fanbase (diehard more often than not) loves so much.
>I don't care if a new game has a completely different direction compared to the rest of the franchise.
well that's you and i think it's foolish to think others should feel the same. in the case of those diehards, their love for the game is much deeper than yours as it's specific, while yours seems to be very general as shown in your "if it's a good game it's a good game" line. you're unconcerned with the identity and only with the quality of the game.
>For reasons you have yet to actual state
I have stated them dozens of times in the past 4 years already.
I know you are not even interested of reading them, and would just retort with the same ancient buzzwords and "t-that doesn't matter!" arguments, but here we go:
>Full of cinematic shit, including real fucking cutscenes.
>All guns suck. Unless you use upgrades.
>Armor is literally a 2nd HP bar that depletes first.
>You can barely hold any ammo. Unless you level-up.
>Checkpoints.
>Maps are linear pipes, connecting obligatory combat arenas you get locked into.
>Platforming sections. With insta-death pits.
>Only around half-a dozen enemies on screen at once, not counting "zombies". No Pinkie packs.
>Berserk pack is a timed boost that makes you invincible and unable to use guns.
>Rune challenges are just annoying filler.
>Everything glows.
>A goddamn robo-guy literally handholds you through the game, via radio.
>No mods, and the Snapmap is literally just all about connecting handful of pre-made rooms together, with strict enemy limit.
>Only 4 players max in Snapmaps (yeah they're apparently NOW "fixing" this).
>MP is Halo-tier shit. Period.
>Spider is the last boss, and is not hitscan anymore either.
>No, hitscan enemies are not a cancer. I miss my easy to gib shotgun zombies.
>Bosses have HP bars and almost Zelda-style attack patterns.
>Ending was literally a slap to face + "lol, buy teh sequel, goy!"
And before you go about "lol wat cutscenes??", there are plenty, like:
>Argent Explanation scene
>Olivia introduction
>office scene
>shutting down VEGA
>finding Olivia's lab in the Lazarus Labs
...and every single time you face a new enemy, find a new weapon or item, open any door / press any switch, et cetera.
Devs barely spent any time on the story, and only at last minute realized how awful idea it is to have players just stand around, in a "Doom" title, but could only change the story sections of the first few levels. Result: way too serious title.
>Full of cinematic shit, including real fucking cutscenes.
>All guns suck. Unless you use upgrades.
>Armor is literally a 2nd HP bar that depletes first.
>Maps are linear pipes, connecting obligatory combat arenas you get locked into.
why do you like doom 3 so much then
>well that's you and i think it's foolish to think others should feel the same. in the case of those diehards, their love for the game is much deeper than yours as it's specific, while yours seems to be very general as shown in your "if it's a good game it's a good game" line. you're unconcerned with the identity and only with the quality of the game.
Because care for franchise identity and game quality often gets wrongly interchanged. If it were up to the fans they would make the same game over and over and lead to eventual stagnation. In the case of the original Doom it already has 25 years worth of quality custom content and expectations that no studio could ever hope to meet with a new official game. If Bethesda were ever to make a new singleplayer Quake game, people won't compare it to Quake 1, they are going to compare it to Arcane Dimensions. The only option they have to make a new entry that would satisfy the most fans was to take it in an entirely new direction.
And quite frankly, I'd rather see first-person shooters try to experiment with a Ninja Gaiden Black/DMC-approach to enemy design and level design than play the same Doom clones over and over like with this ongoing boomer shooter resurgence
Retard boomers being retarded
What is it about FF7RE, RE3, and Doom Eternal that is making cucks seethe into the the next dimension?
>doom thread
lmao marathon is better
So you are still not going to even try and address any of the items provided?
Not that I expected anything from your kin.
To answer your silly topic-switch inquiry:
D3 does not suffer of any of the problems I stated, sans the random cinematic or two. The core gameplay loop is closer to D1-2, but not exact, as they for some reason had to try and mimick System Shock 2.
3/10 trying too hard
It will have massive sales.
It will have amazing user reviews.
It will have amazing critic reviews.
Just like Doom 2016.
Seethe. Harder.
You're complaints are silly for the most part
>All guns suck
Not really, I don't know why anyone really thinks this. 2016 shotgun and the OG shotgun have similar levels of power, a point blank shot from both will kill an imp.
>Armor is a second health bar
As opposed to a damage reduction that pretty much does the same thing? With a mechanic that people acknowledge is pretty trash, because you could get instances of being forced to downgrade to security armor.
>Barely hold any ammo
Shouldn't this be a good thing? Forced to think about your ammo count and use the mechanics of the game, rather then the OG horde of ammo you could get, if you weren't pistol starting. Many maps in pistol start were also ammo starved deliberately. So it didn't even matter that you could hold 50 shells, you probably weren't getting more then 30 in most maps.
>Platforming with insta death pits
As opposed to narrow ledges with pits of toxic waste that have no exit and yes, they exist
>Berserk makes you invincible
It doesn't, but it might as well you will probably say and it certainly does make you almost unkillable given how much you can get done with it in 30 seconds. It really was an "I win" button for encounters, but not like OG one was much better, a free heal up to 100% and 10x damage increase for punches? Pinkies could die in one hit on max roll and Barons go down in five to six punches.
>Rune Challenge filler
Wow, the first legit complaint that isn't blinded by nostalgia. Yeah, it's one of the weaker aspects of the game and why I didn't give it a perfect score. Glad that is gone for this game, both the obtainment challenge and the upgrade mastery.
>Robo guy hand holds you for the whole game
Hyperbole. Hayden talks to you for only 5 missions and only very briefly and never really tells you exactly where you need to go. Vega is even less of a chatter box
>No mods
Another legit complaint, hopefully they come through this game.
this. everyone else is shilling or a newfag
