worse

you don't have a guy with connections like him, you get playstation all stars

People would death threat him into continuing with the series and push out half baked uninspired sequels until Nintendo gets rid of him like the autismo force did to Kojima.

Definitely worse, no one else would willingly put in this much effort

Worse overall.
The choices being made on the game wouldn't change, but now they wouldn't have a recognizable single face to hide behind. The shilling would be more transparent, and that's a good thing.
But at the same time, he was also a single face that people and companies could interact with. Without Sakurai, your Sans-tier meme pick will literally have zero chances.
So, worse overall.

Better.
Maybe then we won’t have to wait 2 fucking years to see 6 fucking characters, all because of an oldman’s autism for surprises and tiny details.

better, but mostly because it just can't possibly get worse at this point

better. finally smash can have good online, no GSP, rosterfagging will diminish, and people actually play the game.

playstation all stars was all 3rd party rubbish though and most of the 3rd parties in smash have more content on playstation.

Hmm, that depends, would you prefer someone that told you they picked X to be shilled blatantly or Sakurai to completely dodge the question and treat each newcomer as the second coming of Christ and how deserving they are, even if they are blatant shills?

>This much effort
Kek Ultimate feels like a balance patch to 4 rather than a genuine effort. It's the most recycled content out of any game in the series. The last game he genuinely put any effort into was Brawl and made a point in several interviews it was going to be his last Smash game, and here we are 12 years later. I doubt he puts in nearly as much 'effort' as you think he does.

Oh boy user, you've tempted fate
> everyone already knows EVERYONE IS HERE won't come back, so smaller roster
> ten fire emblem characters regardless, including whoever the Heroes posterboy is
> tripping comes back
> the game is made genuinely slow and floaty
> movement is slow, air control is slow
> the only way to die off the bottom is to play little mac or get spiked
> there's literally no hitstun beyond what's required to avoid making every attack a trade
> hazards now mandatory, even on final destination and battlefield
NOW are you going to tell me it can't possibly get worse you dumb piece of shit?

>finally smash can have good online
How good is online for other games? Like Mario kart or Splatoon, because the Switch Online service as a whole doesn't seem to be very good

And casual gamers will like it anyway

It would. Less effort put on meaningless content like stickers and shit and more on gameplay. KI:U suffered the same fate.

Man, I'd be fine with a Smash 6 with a much smaller roster since most of the picks aren't really that necessary by all means, but if they're gonna do that while keeping all of the Fire Emblem representatives, it'd be way too easy for me to just burn that copy and then making a viking funeral just so I don't have to put up with that shit.

He'll probably left for real this time since there's no Iwata to ask him to stay for another game, that's why he's working do hard

better

the guy is clearly out of touch

DBFZ is on Switch, so can anyone here attest to the quality of online? Guess this'll tell us if netcode is more important than the online service itself or vice versa

Mario Kart and Splatoon's online are also bad but the netcode hides that. You can often see people rubber banding and slingshotting around in Mario Kart if latency is high but it's a game where hardly any of that matters so there is no authority on what the real "game state' is. Fighting games on the other hand make sure every input is verified and if a packet gets lost in the network or doesn't arrive the game must grind to a halt until that input is verified. That's why fighting games have buffers/input delay to accommodate for this, so if the network data arrives in that delay , the game doesn't have to stop. That being said, Ultimate's online is terrible even acknowledging the shortcomings of fighting game netcode. You can seriously play Melee in an emulator and it will feel like you're in the same room as the other person so long as their ping isn't any higher than 60 or so.

Tripping was probably Iwata's doing. Pretty sure someone from IGN who played a really early build of Brawl said it had wavedashing in it. Nintendo at the time just wanted all of their games to be highly accessible because their core demographic was casual gamers and Smash had to suffer because of it. The sideways wii remote was what Brawl ended up being designed around.

As much as people knock him over his JRPG-swordie bias, the level of commitment and general dedication to the understanding of every franchise ever really is a rare, golden trait to have in a lead developer. You would probably get some soulless fill-in without him.

Kirby bias wouldn't be a thing, so that'd be a benefit.

Smash will get worse probably, but fuck it I don't care if it means he'll be able to make anything other than Smash. With how fucking excellent Kid Icarus turned out I'd love to see what else he can do.

Almost certainly worse. Sakurai has a very apparent lifelong love of video games, one you can see in the reveal trailers, his interviews, everything. His replacement would have to be very carefully chosen.

Oh it would definitely be worse

Look what happened with Star Wars, everyone shat on George Lucas and told him what a horrible hack he was for the prequels so he sold it to Disney

And then look how that turned out. It'd be the same with Smash.

Based ADHD retard

hopefully whoever takes his place will make it in an actual fighting game with a 3v3 format

How is he wrong?

If it was up to Nintendo you’d get a straight port with dlc

when you stop to think about it,every decision he made post melee just made the game worse, gameplay wise, but he still puts love into smash more than anyone else to their game

Probably better. It's the same game with a few new things, I think a new director could inject a lot of life into it instead of someone who clearly hates his job but does it solely for money.

>Mario Kart
It's okay I guess
>Splatoon
It's a special kind of trash. My problems with it are not unique to it however, it's just more of the same: disconnections, shit hitting you when it shouldn't, etc. Why Nintendo thought it was a good idea to put a bad Wi-Fi chip inside Switch, I'll never know

Smash is already entirely up to Nintendo's will. Sakurai doesn't even have any input on who gets in and thinks the game has too much FE swordfaggotry. Watch his almost dead, tired eyes ramble on about how FE is the best franchise ever made and tell me with a straight face that there is not a nintendo executive offscreen with a gun pointed directly at his head.

>Implying it isn't Nintendo approaching third parties

Fuck off, Ultimate is great

>Implying this hasn't been what we got the past 2 games

Who the fuck comissioned a Sakurai Wojak?

>thumbnail

It depends on who directs it really. If Nintendo continues to partner with Bandai Namco, I wouldn't be surprised if Harada started directing the series. Maybe we could get a Third Strike style entry with only a select few veterans and newcomers, and have one of the most competitively viable and balanced Smash game since 64.

only if you are a disgusting melee nigger. take a shower

The only people that unironically think ultimate is shit are meleefags or people that don't even own a switch. There is literally no other fighting game that offers as much content as ultimate has. No one buys fighting games for the single player

most likely unless they good a good director but there not much people who could top sakurai, but i think he should he needs it feel bad for the guy

Goddamn you people are deluded. Thats exactly what youve been getting for years. The only chance of smash ever being decent again is for hakurai to fuck off.

There's zero chance of knowing until we know who the next director is and his view on how the game should be. Could better or could be worse. Roster wise, I feel like the third party quality would go down since it seems like Sakurai's connections helped a lot in getting some of them.

Smash hasn't been interesting to me since Brawl. I started as a casual on 64 but after Brawl I discovered what Melee really can be and haven't looked back. I'd still like to enjoy smash casually but there's fuck all single player content in 4 and ultimate. Also the gameplay is trash but I'd look past that if it had something as simple as break the targets

>Sakurai's connections helped a lot in getting some of them.
He literally said Nintendo decides the newcomers, not him. lol

Literally only for the Ultimate DLC. He picked the base roster and literally all the newcomers before Ultimate besides Corrin. Why do you retards have such shitty memories?

>20 characters
>All items removed
>No huge stages
>All stages made tournament legal
>No time wasted on developing single-player modes
>Focus is entirely on competitive

I wouldn't play it. Sakurai is what makes Smash Smash.

Kek do you really think it's due to """connections""" or some bullshit? Having a rep in smash is a huge publicity boost and plenty of devs were vocal about how they would love for their IP to be included.

>I wouldn't play it
Youre a braindead ultcuck so no surprise there.
>Sakurai is what makes Smash Smash
The last 3 have been dogshit. Hes a hack and youre a sycophant.

Worse, because his autismo is what makes his games so detailed. We're talking about a guy that have 2 housea and a living room with 2 TVs and the same consoles hooked in each one so he can play the same game twice at the same time.

Brawl was my favorite and I liked it far more than Melee because it had much more in terms of single-player content. By making Smash a purely competitive fighting game, you lose everyone who cares about it for reasons other than that.

To counter that: if you want a barebones single player platformer game then why don't you play Mario or Kirby?

>connections
He only made Smash, 2 Kirby games, and Kid Icarus Uprising. and you think you need to know people to bribe a company to use their character? you pay them, that's it. you just need to be wealthy enough and Nintendo funds all of it.

>Brawl was my favorite
HAHAHA (you)

Based. There is objectively nothing good about Ultishit and everyone on this board knows it. Smash died after Melee.

whew, sure smells in here.

It's the shitimate zoomers who smell.

Brawl was good too, it died when Bamco handled it as does everything they touch.

I didn't say I wanted a barebones single-player game. Smash works because it's both and I can only see another director taking it entirely in one direction.

Kid Icarus: Uprising was the best game on the 3DS.

True, Ultishit is probably the worst Smash game for this reason.

>ancient meme that never applied to melee anyway
Really? Thats all you got?

He's an ultizoomer, don't reply. Let him cope with the fact that his atrocity that dares to call itself a smash game is actually the worst game in the series.

Yep just as I thought this thread needs a shower

Attached: Smelly retard .jpg (1400x1400, 262.97K)

Nah, Iwata just wanted Melee 2 because it'd be simpler. Sakurai is the one who said fuck that. And yeah, it was a modified Melee engine.

even if that were true it wouldn't be big enough to make Capcom, Konami, Square, and Sega come to Sakurai to put him in their game. here's the thing, companies want money, Nintendo funds it, Sakurai approaches rich company with worthwhile profit. it doesn't go any other way.

If Sakurai leaving for good means that Fire Emblem can get good representation that aren't nothing but 90% of swordlords, it would be worth it. Other than that, Smash would become worse (depending if the director is bad or not) and would most likely finally add Goku.

>Unironically believing Sakurai's words about Nintendo forcing him to add Fire Emblem characters
>When the last time it was his team persuade him to add Corrin because Corrin would have a good moveset
>Unironically believing anything that Sakurai said when it's a fact that he does the opposite whatever he say i.e. No DLC for Smash 4, Ridley is too big

>Ultimate doesn't have momentum-based jumping?
>Let's get rid of the series creator and main game designer of 20 years

Sakurai IS Smash. You fuckers don't know how good you have it, and the games would suffer massively without his direction. Saying this as a Meleefag.

it depends what company shoves their nose in after he leaves. If Hal it might be good considering they worked on the first two. if Bandai Namco then yeah it's fucked.

Sakurai's been with Smash since the beginning. He's part of its branding. Don't you think that the next Smash would lose clout with companies if they heard that the guy who has directed them all is no longer involved? He's a proven success.
