I think weed was classified as dangerous because among weed, certain paychedelics like shrooms had the power to otherwise traditional, culturally rigid people into either hippies or people who would end up to doubt authority and/or hierarchy.

Heroin, and opiods in general are within the most repugnant drugs in existance, there is no such thing as a functional, civil, heroin user. Heroin Will fuck you up, and even if you recover, the withdrawal process is absolutely infernal, and chances of relapse are high, to my knowledge. Maybe there is something I'm not taking into account with heroin, but as far as I'm concerned it should never be legal

Heroin withdrawal is just hell on earth in terms of suffering but you won’t die. Ask a withdrawing heroin addict in the moment if he would rather die or live. He would choose to die. Xanax or alcohol is more “dangerous” because you can die from it but heroin is the absolute worst. Take it for years and you will be fucked for months mentally and physically. Better hope you have a family member who isn’t complete tired of you yet or something because you won’t be able to work at all for a while without being in hell 24/7 for a few months with mental breakdowns.
