One punch man

Now that the dust has settled, can we finally say that season two wasn't THAT bad?

Compared to average seasonal anime, it was above average and pretty good. Compared to season one or the source material, it was terrible

>season two wasn't THAT bad
Yeah, it was even worse than that, bad doesn’t begin to describe.

I mean if you ignore the animation it followed the manga alright

Does someone have any Guru pictures they can spare? I've deleted all of mine.

Its pretty bad. everything was just off about it. The voices, animation, and jokes all fell flat. Lost the charm that made season 1 fun

It was horrible.

>that season two wasn't THAT bad?
Are you sure????

Being a 3/10 instead of a 2/10 doesn't make it much better.

I actually stopped watching about halfway through and I can't bring myself to finish it. I agree with user that everything felt off. It just didn't have the time and care that s1 did

I really enjoyed the web comic, Manga is top tier for the quality, anime is just fun to see it animated. At this point I don't care to complain

lmao I stopped at ep 4

I never watched it, it got horrible reception and all the scenes I saw from it looked bad.
Also, I saw the trailer and it looked like shit. What were they thinking with that motion blur?

it was an appalling season 2.

DEATH GATTLING

>it wasn't that bad
it was that bad. and even worse when you realize that besides the bad art/animation, every other aspect of it was about just as bad
>bad animation
>bad sound
>bad action
>bad comedy
all tied in a nice bow thanks to the
>bad direction

season 1 was better

lol season 2 was pure shit. The last ep or was it the second to last, they had Captain Baldy kill the alluded to bad ass off screen. Fucking wow. An off screen fight. Season 2 was pure shite. Terrible story telling, terrible animation, terrible just terrible.

It really wasnt, if I gave a shit about top notch art quality I wouldnt have read the webcomic in the first place

DAAAAAHHHHH ART BAD

It was ok, S1 is just too overrarted.

Anyone know what happened? A new director and studio is a disaster waiting to happen and yet they did it anyway. Did ONE have bills to pay or debts?

JC Staff was busy doing Saiki Kusuo most likely

>Anyone know what happened? A new director and studio is a disaster waiting to happen and yet they did it anyway. Did ONE have bills to pay or debts?
Look, sometimes the people who pay for a new season, don't have the patience to wait for two years for a proper sequel. They would rather a 2nd season made cheap and fast. ONE might own the rights, but he doesn't pay for the anime's production himself. Rich money funds pay, and they have demands.

Where the fuck are OVA's 5 and 6?

I got over the fact that this was obviously never going to look as good as season 1. Season 1 was a miracle. So I watched this with an open mind, and this is how I felt: season 1 had better animation, season 2 has better story. I really liked King's, as well as Saitama questioning his heroics. Garou stole the show completely. I honestly like this season more than the first. I never really cared for season 1, aside from the animation. Season 2 was at least interesting, and made me want to see a third season. Though I hope they get bones to do it.

They hired some literal who director with the same budget as S1 (seriously why didn't they get more budget?)
All the signs pointed to garbage from the getgo

Pretty much this.
The problem was that people started shitting on it long before it came out, even before the first trailer dropped. They set themselves up to hate it no matter what.

Budget wasnt the issue it was just s2 given a shit staff. s1 was made with an average budget but because the s1 director treated it like a passion project and had connections to many freelancers it looked good and was good. S2 did not have any of that besides aoki and the few freelancers that tried to put their work but got heavily edited by jc staff or not corrected at all.

Only episdode 1 and 3 were above average. ep 11 and 12 were average and every other episode was just bad. Comparing it to s1 just makes the result of this more obvious.

I mean I don't know much about anime production but I think without a famous director like the guy on S1 they could have possibly gotten some more talented animators anyway with more money
I sure as hell hope they didn't hire the sound guy because they wanted him vs. because they couldn't afford to hire better

It didn't capture the great moments from the manga as well as it should have. It felt very through-the-motions.

The sound guy is actually a veteran. He does jojo sound effects and is known for the Beserk CLANG. FUCKING GREAT. He still gets work despite how his sounds outside jojo dont mesh well with other anime especially action heavy ones. Also its JC staff which have too many projects under there belt every season of anime. You would see about 3 to 5 anime produced by those guys alone in a season.

They fixed that. The reception was about average for a seasonal anime, just far worse than S1.

>The sound guy is actually a veteran
I know, but he must be really cheap to hire or something. Why else would he still get jobs?

It was as bad as it was made out to be. It was so fucking bad that the people trying to cope and defend it all dropped it and started making fun of it as well by episode 6.

No we can not. The fuck is wrong with you?

today i will remind them

Attached: 1558590056814.jpg (1309x545, 118.73K)

Too bad it reveals the bad animation they used the blur on.
Probably. He gets around a lot and for some reason always for action heavy anime that does not fit his forte. Hes better for jojo since its not all bombastic battle heavy. Fate, OPM, Berserk and all other stuff just dont work.

The worst part about this fight is that aoki only does the first punch sequence and the rest is done by some average animator that made the fight degrade in animation over time. Ive never seen such a thing happen before until OPM s2.

At last this fandom has finally shown their true colors, by demonstrating how many of you never really care about OPM "great" story, groundbreaking characters, funny comedy, and overall being a fantastic "deconstruction" of the superhero genre. In reality it was all about the over-the-top sakuga.

Story wise, Season 2 was objectively superior. The animation wasn't actually bad but the art style may have been the big problem.

this has been posted a 1000 times already
animation was bad in many places especially around the invasion arc and tournament arc.

>this fandom has finally shown their true colors
>implying anime "fans" are the same people who read the manga.
Also, no one seriously calls it a "deconstruction", retard.

God fucking damn it. Who thought the ghosting effect was a good idea in the first place?
Were they actively trying to make the show as bad as possible?

You dumbass, this was in the manga too. Showing a fight with big meanie ooga bunga vs Saitama is pointless anyways. The whole point of this Garou arc is to bring attention away from Saitama so the whole one punch shtick doesn't get more stale than it already fucking is.

>implying over the top sasuga is a bad thing is a show like this
fuck you it adds to the experience

The same idiots who were in charge of art and didnt hire kubota to directly work on S2. That and the shit coloring.

Attached: 1584733677018.png (904x866, 644.74K)

I assume they're going to do a S3 eventually, but where the fuck are they going to cut off the story? I doubt they can do the whole MA arc in 13 episodes, especially with how much has been added in the manga. It's starting to look like the whole thing will be like 60+ chapters at least

It looks like the studio's lack of anatomy lessons did far more damage than any punch.
They turned him into a shit demon.

>13 episodes
C'mon you know were not getting that many. At best I could see them stopping around saitama v orochi or slightly later but not much.

no

It had worse animation than the average seasonal show. Just because it had any animation at all doesn't mean it wasn't outdone by bargain bin LN adaptations in every aspect of production quality. It also shat all over the source material, fucking up pacing and flattening whatever dramatic tension there was. Also the main character's VA was directed poorly. And the opening visuals sucked. And the sound design sucked. And the coloring sucked. It's unfathomable just how crappy S2 is as a whole.

>They removed important key-frames in this draft so the animation actually looked worse when the episode got released.
This level incompetence is an achievement from JC Staff. This is what you expect when a mediocre studio gets spread thin producing 11+ projects in a year.

Attached: 1559116876033.webm (960x540, 2.98M)

Hell it actually got animators badmouthing the studio in public, something nobody ever does.

Murata has spoiled all of you

Did you color?

Attached: Tastumaki Saitama.jpg (850x460, 112.89K)

I will never not be disappointed how they fucked up this fight and key moments. Then there is this shit show of a "fight"
JC staff tried to shut em up.

Attached: 1558570042001.webm (628x704, 2.89M)

They set themselves upto to love it, when you have very low expectations for something and it does something well you appreciate it more. but season 2 couldn't do even that

Nope sadly no talent in that department. Just found it. Would have chosen a different color for Orochi.

It wasn't that bad...

...it was VERY bad.

>well animated punch
>insert less impact fart sound
>Saitama sounding bored despite dialogue showing worry

First, there's nothing wrong with expecting great animation from a series that've already proven to have great animation. Anyone would screech if they come from S1 expecting great story and artwork to suddenly only having great story. People hate negative progress in anything. Secondly, you seem to be under the assumption that bad animation/art can't distract from the story which is absolutely asinine. I

Funny, great stories are usually given great animation/art because only those things would do the former justice.
