Prove yourself right first.

The last third of the movie was unbearable. It should've just ended with the reveal or at least should've had not-shit pacing

Wow well argued and insightful

>voted the number one best film of all time in Sight and Sound
Odds are you just have bad taste, why should I bother explaining what makes it good if you think it's shit

All movies made before 70s are shit. No one gives a fuck about them, except hipsters.

>voted the number one best film of all time by some literally who-tier site

Oh, wow! No one in the real world cares.

Agree with this. It felt like DLC

zoom-zoom

Just got done watching Rear Window, I found it pretty mediocre but it had its cozy moments. I feel Hitchcock is praised so much only because he helped make so many famous horror/thriller tropes.

I never liked Vertigo and I've seen it several times. I've watched 22 Hitchcock movies but Vertigo (and The Birds) never worked for me.

you are 100% right
Vertigo is garbage

Psycho and North by Northwest are the only good (7/10) Hitchcock movies.

Love Hitchcock starting with The Lodger and Vertigo did absolutely nothing for me.

You mean 4channel?

I was gonna make this thread a few days ago
It was a 6/10 for me and all the reviews I read explaining why its a masterpiece were just filled with psuedointellectual buzzwords.

I hope you get coofed on

Orson Welles disliked the film, telling his friend, director Henry Jaglom, that the movie was "worse" than Rear Window, another film that Welles disliked.

Except that the real meat of the film is Jimmy Stewart’s obsession with making her look like the fake version of her.

I'm pretty sure if vertigo wasn't a "hehe old classic movie hehe also Hitchcock movie," it wouldn't receive its praise

Except it was panned on its release and there are plenty of other old films by Hitchcock that don't get nearly as much praise.
>renowned contrarian is contrarian
Would have definitely posted on Yas Forums had it existed when he was alive.

For me it's the Rear Window

Imagine watching all those shitty, boring oldass boommer movies.

all mysteries and stalker porn is womenshit.

>its a Yas Forums claims someone who actually has taste is a "contrarian" for not agreeing with the idiotic masses episode

>he thinks the idiotic masses watch and like Vertigo
kek, you're just one pleb among many.

The way the ending twists doesn't work for me nowadays, I think it would have been different seeing it back then.

The protagonist is a creepy motherfucker, so maybe the end is justified because he does not deserve an happy ending like that.

i hope we're ruining the climate first for an extra-slow zoomer roast

This is why I hate amerifags. Old movies are too slow for their intellect. But they will praise capeshit with no hesitation.

The movie a masterpiece. You literally witness how a man descends into pure madness and obsession. Plus the movie has a dreamy atmosphere only comparable to Lynch best films like Mulholland Drive.

>make a glaring plot hole in the movie with her disappearance in the hotel
>"It was on purpose all along'"

Hitchcock is a fucking hack.

That’s a nickpick. Enjoy your retarded cinemasins

While it isn't the worst Hitchcock film, it's not very good. It seems like the only reason Hitchcock made it was to give him an opportunity to harass Kim Novak.

what would be the actual point of stopping the film to explain how she got out of the hotel, beyond satisfying your autism?

plot holes are only an issue if they are so big that they distract
her disappearance was so fucking distracting dude. The directing in vertigo is great but the writing is awful

You've got your films mixed up retard.

Vertigo is extremely dated but the bell tower scene to this day is one of the most horrifying scenes ever made in a film, and everything that is so drawn out to establish it makes it something that really punches you right in the gut, that and the dream scene and credits was real neat

The movie has a dream quality. It’s not “real”. It’s like Mulholland Drive or Persona
